@Fred W. Hargis Jr has been building a vacuum system for his lathe (see above in the "Our Turners"). There has been lots of discussion, ideas and input on his work. Following some links, through the world of the Interweb, I stumbled upon this turner. He pretty thoroughly documents his journey on making a vacuum chuck system.

Alan Stratton turns a natural edge bowl. Alan describes the processes he uses to keep the bark in place with CA glue as well as his way of keeping the CA from staining.

The video about the vac manifold showed a QD vacuum fitting, but when I clicked the link it was UK only. Then I found the US site for them (easycomposites) and that site doesn't have the connector. Oh, well...I'll keep searching.
