Friday January 16th, 2026-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Featured Replies

I'm working on the second of two Side Snipe Moulding Planes that I'm making. First one is done. No finish yet. Worked on the blade this afternoon in my shop with clear blue sky and sun outside.  But it was very cold. Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!

So my weekend would be great if we have water and if the minisplit gets installed and warming up the shop!!

Shower issue mostly fixed so we have water. Very thankful!!

Minisplit still in progress and will continue tomorrow. Unfortunately supposed to be very cold so not sure how that might impact sealing everything up. Time will tell!

Been working on finishing the setup of DC pipe this week. Had to clean off old fittings which involved heat gun to loosen and scraping out old glue and caulk. Then came the fun .....Install. Got one side up yesterday with 5 ports. Today finished tightening up yesterdays work , installing straps to ceiling , adding screws to joints and caulk where needed. Rest of the day cut pipe for the last side and got most of it up.  Will come back and put in a pic of Dust closet.

I have one of the early Wixey DROs. Wish the battery lasted longer

You, along with everyone else that has one of the early models, wishes that.

I tried those last year (Tax Time), maybe I'll try again.

The Epson site is where I've been getting the drivers/software for all of the OS's.

I may end up having to dig a bit deeper into the W11 settings, etc. than the MS article states.

Now that I've got it working on the Zorin OS I might retire the wife's W10 machine.

That's to comply with,

I was given orders to get rid of “all that computer junk”.

I'll wait until after I do the Taxes though just to be on the safe side. :Devil_Laughing:

I splurged on the Wixey, got the $$ installation kit from Katya Ironworks.

Fairly cold in the garage today, and I am so tired!  Need sleep badly.

Doing what I do…….building stock for my Etsy store. I thought sales would slow after the holidays but I was wrong.

Minisplit install shifted to Tuesday when temps are more favorable. Oh well, he knocked off some $$ for the delay.

Found this in marketplace .

a bit much $ at 35$

but hey I like it 😀

will put it between drill press and lathe.

on a work bench.  Once it is cleaned off !!

I'm thinking smaller lathe doodads, like pen mandrel, worm screw, etc. in bottom drawer.

Smaller router bits and drill bits in the others.

At least drill bits that are wood types.

And that’s a fake Guild guitar lol.

otherwise it would be worth a nice Lathe!

Accomplished some on my list. There might be an extra hour of available time tonight, though I am pretty well whipped right now.

Installed the $$ Katya Ironworks, DW735 mounting system.  It was mostly frustrating.

Besides having to (imho) deburr the sharp edges,

The Installation video was simply chocked full of incorrect assembly and tightening sequences.

It would take paragraphs to describe.  Suffice to say, I will give the product 7/10 because it became a PITA to correctly install.

I cannot understand how the video passed muster.

I would message the guys there.. but only if I am paid LOL.

Well it is installed. And it is way better than the cheap mounting items, method, in the overpriced Wixey package.

I cleaned up an area that was very space inefficient. and will be redone. tomorrow.

Also I "caught" Home Depot trying to stupidly rip me off via on-line order and delivery. LOL!

I have to say it is one the dumbest things I could imagine!

Get this:

If I ordered just a few (of the same) items, it was free delivery.  1' square dowels.

But if ordered more, they wanted $35 for delivery!!!

Even though it was still much less items than the particular store had in stock.

That sure seems backward.

Well to me anyway.

So, if I run out of materials, ill just order a few more, with free delivery! LOL.

Bwahahaha, I ordered some more 1" Sq dowels with free delivery.

How much is free ?

Exactly.
