Friday January 16th, 2026-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:ChinScratch: Well what do you know, it's Friday again folks!

Here in the land that is "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're getting back to "normal" January weather with some of that four letter word that starts with S, along with the cold temps.

So, it looks like another week of hibernating is in store for me, if I can get away with it. :Ho_Hum.thumb:

Good time to mount the Linux PC in the rack mount case, and cabinet before something happens to it. (Where's Mr. Mew the Cat?) :WonderScratch:

Guess that's about it until the temps return to non-hibernation levels.

So with that,

I'm thinking I'll be spending the weekend trying to stay warm. Otherwise I'll be piddling  the shop.

Headed North in a bit to "Boilermakerville" for a haircut. Maybe a trip to Harbor Freight (go H-F😆), Rural King and Menards after depending on the weather. Tonight, oldest grandson has a home basketball game. Saturday is a "free" day; Sunday, church, then in afternoon, youngest grandson's travel league games.

Had cataract surgery on one eye Tuesday and the other eye scheduled for two weeks later.  So, I'm out of the sawdust for a while.

Need to finish up replacing the "inside floor" of the garden window, for the second time. These windows seem like a good ideas- at the time.

Rolling pin stock is getting low so replenishment is in order. Fortunately I have several blanks in different stages of completion, used in a club demo/workshop, so that shouldn't take too long.

A few wave bowls, in various stages of creation left over from a club demo cluttering up the work bench need to be finished.

I'm sure Mimi will add to the list, when she get home!

I dread the next PC failure. I was given orders to get rid of “all that computer junk”.

But God forbid I suggest maybe getting rid of some shoes/clothes!

Rough "start" to the weekend.

Had a drip in our shower that was beyond what my husband could fix (and I don't do plumbing!!). Plumber came out around noon, put in new part and it failed. He went to get another and it failed. Tried a third and still not working. Now another plumber he called is working on it. If he can't fix from the front, they will have to cut a hole in the bedroom wall. Until this is resolved, no water.

All that on top of various issues with the minisplit install (in progress).

So my weekend would be great if we have water and if the minisplit gets installed and warming up the shop!!

Sat I'm headed north to my Granddaughters Baby Shower! Did I miss something here?

In my youth those were for the females of the family and they didn't want us there.
In the end it will all work out because all the males will be there and we can finalize plans for this years canoe trips.

The majority of the rest of the weekend will be spent getting my Tripod Dog used to the Cart I picked up today. Initial attempts look favorable, the tough part is getting hm into it.

Or the needlework or ....

:ChinScratch: Strange, the Epson NX430 All in One works with Zorin. Tried everything I found online to get it to work on W11 without success. Works fine with W10.

Sat

It's definitely Fri 🤣

I have a cheap scanner that was supposed to only work up to W7. I got it working with W10 but when W11 came out it wouldn't work. Finally found the original drivers disk and installed and it Worked!

When I tried to do the upgrade to 25H2 the upgrade failed. Lots of research said that the scanner and old Logitech web cam drivers were the fault. Wrong, Turned out that somewhere along the line doing upgrades from WXP to W11, on the same computer, fubared something deep inside the kernel. Finally bit the bullet and did a clean install of 25H2 and things have been good- so far.

I built one of those dog wheel chairs back in the early 70’s for a poodle we had. Ruptured disc, paralyzed back legs. He went like he!! on that thing!

I was feeling pretty good today. Hope it goes the same this weekend.

Found a little garage sized "chest of drawers" on marketplace. Hope it is still available. If not then hmmm, make a plan to build one.

Couple of projects; setup the wolverine jig clone and grinder.

Install the Wixy DRO on the DeWalt planer.

Put boxes in the garbage can.

Put away Sandpaper.

Have a neighbor come over and help me move an old, tall filing cabinet to the curb.

Put together an HF outfeed roller.

Then put some wood on the Lathe. 🙂

Two other tough projects involve getting rid of a workbench. It is not that great and was put together in a hurry, years ago.

I should dismantle the top of the workbench from the cabinet/drawer unit. Maybe stash in the Shed.

The other is a rotted out, very heavy shelving unit made of Melamine shelves.

Both will required a neighbor for some heavy lifting.

Maybe one of the neighbors will have room in his dump trailer! Hmm. I will in fact need that favor from him.

Neither of these do I look forward to. Eventually it has to be done.

I do know that once done, I will be a lot happier!

The workbench will need some sort of a replacement. And that invloves $$ already spent, lol.
