I was in your same situation right after Thanksgiving. I survived, and you will too! Just don't do like I did and eat all the forbidden fruit the first three days she gone ie: pizza, icecream, cake, cookies, couple gallons of milk, carne asada burrito from fav mex place etc etc, I paid the price heavily, but gawd was it good!

Now you tell me.

After I had a large bowl of Popcorn while watching the Basketball game on LOUD

and finishing the evening off with a pint of Cherry Garcia

I recently purchased a HF Hercules table saw.

That model seems to get very good reviews especially for the price point.

I noticed that when I was researching it. When I was setting it up I noticed the blade was running true and parallel to the miter tracks, the fence was parallel to the miter slot and 90 deg to the table top and the ruler was spot on for the distance between the blade and the fence. And I love that rack & pinion fence.

The only adjustments I had to make was the  0 and 45 on the blade tilt and it had 2 adjustment screws with cams for that.

The Hercules is leaps and bounds above the HF Warrior it replaced.

Not much accomplished today but did put the finishing touches on the dust collection closet. changed the plan a little and only put insulation in two walls and ceiling . Has really cut down on sound levels. Also did a little sweeping. Looking at the rye grass I have sowed and it has srated to take off with the small rains we have had . Had some heavy rain before I came out of shop and it sounded like the end. Turnes out it was about 1/2 inch in 35 minutes. will put out more rye when the storms are past. No on to some other projects.

:ChinScratch: Seems like those parts from PC's past are going to work for the son.

He says it's faster than his W10 machine that can't be upgraded to W11.

Too cold outside or in the shop, so my kitchen has become a finish station. 🤷‍♀️ First coat applied and no spills. 20260110_091900.thumb.jpg.8dc81fe2b7c0efa55e55ecedbe2cebab.jpg

Not really - just water based finish. I'm pretty sensitive to any smell (ask my husband how often I say "do you smell that?"), and this was minimal. Typically I do wear a mask but neglected to do so as the morning wasn't going as planned and just wanted this done!

So far I've been able to upgrade every one of my old W7 machines (Lenovo Twist laptop and Mimi's HP Laptop) I also have an old HP desktop running the latest Canary build of W11 from the insider program. That said, I don't play any games and some of my "must have" software is windows proprietary. I imagine part of the increased performance is due  to the AMD processor having more cores and Zorin requiring less overhead.

HP Pavilion running an AMD A8 5500 (3.2 Ghz CPU) 16gb of DDR3 with Nvidia 1050 Graphics card.

Versus:

Alien Ware running an Intel I7 6800K (3.6 Ghz CPU) 32gb of DDR4 with Nvidia 1080 Graphics card.

Some of the games he's running were made for windows only but a shot of "WINE" from the "Bottles" with a dash of "Proton" fixed that.

My week plans are boring. Not related to donuts.😄

Our daughter married 25 years ago but left all her stuff here. So, her clothes and books have been donated to charity. I have a little more stuff to go through before the room is clean. Rain today and turning cold for the next few days. Great time to sort and dispose. Donuts will be part of the reward.

After it warms will go back to turning snowmen and tree ornaments from these spindles. First effort yesterday.  Much to be improved.
