January 1Jan 1 Popular Post Hello everyone, you could say woodworking runs in the blood, my Grandpa and Dad were woodworkers. Likely further back into the gene pool as well... I remember my Grandpa's narrow shop running the length of his garage and my Dad's shop which he ran a furniture repair business out of. With that said I was too young for them to hand down their skills and knowledge before they passed. But I do have some of their tools, my Grandpa's Iron King table sander (60 yrs old?), my dad's Craftsman bandsaw (50 yrs old?) and some other hand tools. I've dabbled for the past 40 years or so woodworking but am finally getting a functional, dedicated workshop set up. Stumbled into a great deal and purchased a shop of Delta/Rockwell tools and a few others and a forest of wood! This was a definite upgrade to my Grandpa's and Dad's tools and a smattering of other tools I've acquired along the way. Retirement is still a few years away after 20 yrs active duty and 22 yrs (so far) as a govt contractor. So, for now, I'm doing small projects like the antler mounts I made for family members for Christmas and other small items. I'd like to try some fly fishing nets and other related items, and of course whatever my wife throws on the to make list..... Located just North of Dayton Ohio. Looking forward to learning from everyone on here!

Gerald - Air Force for 20 years and doing similar work for 22 more... Did someone say donuts? Welcome Jerry to The Patriot Woodworker. Glad you found us and joined up. Thank-you for your commitment and service to our great Nation. Well since you mentioned the secret word donuts, you now can move to Level 2 of TPW. Level 2 grants you limited access to the secret break room where the donuts are maintained in our vault. As the newest member to TPW, you have the time honored privilege to restock the vault with a variety of circular pastries (NOTE: we donut accept bagels with sprinkles). Just place them on the center table, then back away slowly. Our surveillance system will notify me when the donuts are in place. I'll take care of everything from there. @Gerald...did I miss anything?
January 3Jan 3 Popular Post Vault ! When did we get a Vault? Gonna have to check the break room more carefully🤣

I prefer the sourdough and plain ole cake ones myself but will bring a variety. Appreciate the level upgrade, I'm familiar with vaults, worked in them for the past 40years, hopefully I can find this one.... Although I have likely over-indulged in the Christmas sweets this year and the donuts may have to wait a few weeks. The older I get the pounds don't come off as easily.. 🙂
January 3Jan 3 Popular Post May I suggest my weight loss program? I have a shop in the basement of the house and a shop in the barn and there's about a 100 foot walk between them. You'd be surprised how many times you'll have to make that walk, AND the bonus is, after walking that 100 feet walk, there's a good chance you'll forget what you wanted never mind an increased possibility of coming in contact with SWMBO who has another item to add to the "Honey do List."
January 3Jan 3 Author Popular Post RE: frenchwwr, I have a similar program! My shop is about 100ft from the house and a horse barn in-between and a chicken yard on the side. If we don't keep moving in some way we are doomed. The daily chores keep us busy and there is always a few items on the "Honey do List"... If I completed the list then there would be nothing to look forward to... 🙂
