Saturday was spent trying to stay warm and working on a second attempt at a Vessel Of Illusion- which unfortunately was another failure. The mysterious spalted wood is just too soft and was never dried properly. Too many stress cracks. Sunday was cleanup the lathe day and started another vessel. As Chief Dan George said in the Outlaw Josey Wales- "endeavor to preserver"

Shop temp was brisk this morning!

Pulled on my bulky old insulated coveralls and turned on the little oil heater which helped with the chill.

Shelves cut and installed with supports underneath, plus the front stop...now just have to wait for the wheels to arrive later this week.

Lot of cleanup from all of this!

Yes, maybe a bit much. I tend to overbuild. But then, I've not had anything fail either so that supports my tendency!

Edit: well, had some issues with a shelf for our RV closet...might have been an underbuilt situation

Pretty much stayed inside over the weekend after 7"+ of snow, below zero temperatures with yesterday's high of only 5°. I did rearrange some snow Sunday for what good it did with 35-40 mph winds today.  All church services and activities were canceled yesterday.

Week ahead, Wednesday drive over to the next county seat to pick-up a few on-line auction items I scored last night. Most stuff and especially any tools apparently were made of gold and platinum. I did buy an old 6" Sioux grinder for $4...wanted it for some parts that the one I've had since 1977 have been missing. Both are circa 1950. I'll make a separate thread.

Wednesday night wraps up the youngest grandsons 6th grade basketball career; tonight's game was canceled since the opposing school canceled classes and activities for today. Probably will do some errands Thursday and maybe some Christmas shopping but I donut know for sure.

MY my that donut gets into a lot of conversations lately. Makes me yearn for an apple fritter.

Finished up the electrical on Dust control closet. Today outside walls and roof went on. Realized yesterday that I did not make the room deep enough to put the door on ; so will be adding a few inches for that. Sound levels are reduced  but need to add insulation to improve that.

Got a few small items to turn for Christmas this week.

I got the Fritters today. I donut have any idea what the rest of y'all did about this conversation.

By the way @Grandpadave52 Have to make an exchange at HF today the screwdriver I redesign with a wood handle . I had bout 6 and the shaft on one was too large for the bits. No problem exchange. I also learned that they have a lifetime warranty (remind you of another big retailer) on sockets and wrenches.

This is what they look like when I finish.

Go Harbor Freight.😆

It's Wednesday, but a slow start to the week.  At the furniture bank,

* I'd cleaned the upholstery on 8 chairs that some donor left out in the rain a couple of weeks ago.  Thankfully, they cleaned up and I didn't need to reupholster them (taking the old staples out takes about 10x as long as putting new ones in.  I added cambric (dust covers) to the bottoms and put them back on the frame.
* There was a dresser where the drawer glides had fallen off.  It was strange, there were no screws, though there were places for them.  A small tab got hammered into the (particle board) sides.  Two of the 5 drawers had glides off, so we screwed all of them on.  The top  had also come loose as the screw had broken out the particle board.  Added a corner bracket.
* A RTA dresser had another (particle board) chipped out part.  Several corner brackets got it back together.

* First batch of cinnamon rolls for the crew there.

* Oh, and on the way home passed a new development of about 8 three story apartment/condo buildings.   We had about 4" of snow over the weekend and single digit temps.  But today it's in the 40s.  But there was a crew up there on that icy roof doing shingling.  No way, Jose.

* I got the last of 4 desks that they sold me earlier this week.  They were donated by a nearby university after a dorm remodel.  My daughter and her brother in law bought a house near Univ. of Cincinnati for their respective kids to live in as they attended college there over the next 10 or so years.  Good thing I did because they were all gone today.

Someone on Facebook posted a photo of a piece they were restoring.  Another person commented that older furniture was much better than current stuff.  Amen

Yes I know it is way past Monday but I just had to pass on this. I killed my first deer today. It was a nice 7 point buck. It was only my third hunt. I could not believe they just suddenly appeared.

I learned a very important lesson on my first, and only, time deer hunting- you cannot warm up a rock by sitting on it.

Congrats! I love venison, Marie not so much. I'd always have a lot of deer burger made with 20% pork fat....really great off the grill.
