January 1Jan 1 Author Popular Post Got the clamps off of #3 Drawer last night...tried to get it to go all the way in....for some reason, it stopped about 3/4" short....as it was already hitting the back of the Case.. Sat it down to think for a moment...right on top of another drawer....ah...I was in too big of a rush yesterday...I forgot ONE very Important step.. Drawer sides needed to be trimmed for LENGTH...so.. Mr. Fix-it was called in... That is how much that needs to leave the A.O. Mr. Jackson took over from there.. Almost done... Bandsaw to remove the dovetailed tabs...needed to remove the glued on plywood scrap...we have ways.. Check to make sure the Drawer does indeed fit...then some glue and a few clamps.. Glued back in place..let this "hang out here" for a spell....just not on my tablesaw... Case is to sit on/in a base.....Base needs a rebate milled for the case to sit in/on Rough it out on the tablesaw, then... Craftsman No. 3720( Sargent No. 79 Type 2) to fine tune the rebates Plan, as of now...is to miter the corners...run a small cove bit along the edge that will stick up....Then a bit of scroll work, that will produce 4 feet for this thing to sit on.. That IS "The Plan" right now... Stay tuned..
January 2Jan 2 Well I really think you have got to stop using that board stretcher before you get into real trouble.
January 2Jan 2 Author Drawer #3 FITS! That be a dark shadow line along it's top edge, BTW.. As for the Base Unit? This is The Plan....will see how it turns out Stay tuned...
January 3Jan 3 Author Popular Post Jigged up.. Router & Bit.. It do make a mess... Checked the fit... Then, over to the Mitersaw.. This direction wasn't so bad..Clamped to free up my left hand.. However..IF I swung to the other #45... There was a problem.. between my Right Elbow ..and this pipe... Dry fit? Had issues with the one across the bad...one miter wasn't working out...and kept getting worse...so..since it IS the back of the case, I went with just a butt joint....I did have to rebate the edge, to match the others.. About this time, toes started to cramp...Decided that 2 hours on a Friday was just too much...swept the place..and stumbled me way up the stairs...never even started on Drawer #4...always tomorrow.. Stay tuned..
January 4Jan 4 Author Popular Post Have one more Drawer to build....turned on the Spotlight.. And found out that the drawer front was a bit rough sawn ...yet.....we have ways.. And, when I was done with the plane... Back onto the Ready Service Shelf. Pins first in this shop, so.. 2 half Pins, and a full pin. Then the saw can go to work.. Then.... Chisels to remove the waste SHARP No. 2 Pencil to trace around the pins onto the "tail board"...bandsaw the waste ..and try a dry fit.. Right off the saw... Repeat for the other front corner... Back 2 corners...get a single dovetail "Tail" and a pair of half pins, per corner... Cut a plywood panel for the drawer's bottom... ( See any tools you like?) Old bottle of glue was tossed out, and, since I have a NEW bottle...and a brush...and a few clamps.. Bench Vise acts as a 3rd hand.... Let this sit overnight...clean it up tomorrow. Then, maybe start back on the base? Will need a tool for the lay out work... Lost Arts Press French Curve....as I am not sure where the old Steel one went to... Stay tuned..
January 5Jan 5 Author Popular Post Knobs...decided against the brass thingys... And decided to use these wooden ones...they need a short length of dowel glued in, then trimmed for length.... A scrap of Ash, a combo square, a pencil and a scratch awl to locate where these knobs will go on the Drawer Fronts...Once I get the fronts cleaned up, gaps filled..and sanded the marks and the fuzz from drilling a hole for each dowel...and, IF I am lucky... They all line up. Case is sitting on it's top...because.... lay out a few curves, bandsaw those curves, belt sand away any and all burn marks... Then..attempt a few times to glue the front 2 joints together.. Letting this sit a day or 2...that Monday Shop Closed thing....and will attempt to add the back to the Base..and, maybe install the Base to the Case? Stay tuned..
January 5Jan 5 Looks good Bandit, and that was the right choice on the drawer pulls, they look great.

January 6Jan 6 Author Couple of teasers... First one...waiting on glue to cure... Second one? NOT a Scratching post, fur ball! 1 x 8 x6' to be the top of a Sideboard Project....that needs to be 3/4" x 20" x 60" Sides will include.. Panels made for this... Same board, just turned it around... Stay tuned....

January 7Jan 7 Author Ok..3 hour nap yesterday, made the trip to Hobby Lobby down in Springfield, OH a bit lat in the day.. Hardware has been re-supplied.. Just for Scale....those Dog Holes are 3/4" diameter.....arrows are pointing to 2 items that need to be installed... Also.. 5 sheets ....4 drawers...and one just in case... ROYAL PITA to install...as one piece.. (Next trip to Hobby Lobby..NEW knife blades for the Xacto Knife....and a pack of new blades for the Utility Knife, as well.. Tools? Jaws were too thick..so..reground them down a bit to better hold the nails being used... Yes, nails....however..handles used screws, so.. . Drill was sold at Sears, as a Dunlap Brand...that screwdriver is a Phillip's ... So...grabbed a brush, a Church Key, and a can of Warm Gloss Poly... Just letting this sit, while the finish dries...
