Popular Post Larry Buskirk Posted December 5 Popular Post Report Posted December 5 Friday again folks, Guess I'll give @Grandpadave52 a break from the extra duties I piled on him while I was to busy/pooped to turn on the computer. Waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so we can figure out why the brakes went out on the plow Blazer. Currently 11 with a wind chill of -1 here. So while we sit here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" waiting for a thaw, What's on Your Weekend Agenda? HandyDan, steven newman, lew and 6 others 6 1 1 1 Quote
Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted December 5 Popular Post Report Posted December 5 I got an order for a sideboard.....from another person in our house. o I'll be checking my lumber stash to see what's available, and trying to work out some details. I'm supposed to emulate an existing POS sideboard we have in the house at the moment. Might try to futz around on the lathe a little tinkering with Christmas ornaments. Amonst all of this I'll work on a nap or two and psych myself up for my once-weekly donut on Sunday morning. BB1, lew, Gerald and 6 others 6 3 Quote
Popular Post BB1 Posted December 5 Popular Post Report Posted December 5 Hope to get back to shop reorganization after a couple days putting together a new dust collector. Need to grab some more 2x4 to build a new wood storage rack as I as short with what I have on hand. Currently I'm using the "lean against the wall" method. This is my most recent sketch. This will be for longer boards and then some tool storage on the "shelves." Will add leftover OSB for backing. Debating on making it a bit larger to put bins with my sorted cutoffs on the shelf area rather than tools. Will see what works best on the space I have. It was here most of yesterday which made that 15 degree high feel not so bad. 20 so far today but no showing of the Sun, feels much colder than yesterday. Fred W. Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted December 5 Popular Post Report Posted December 5 Busy week but no significant accomplishments. The snowpack and cold just makes everything 2x more difficult to accomplish much plus the motivator is hard starting in this kind of weather. Contemplating running some errands this afternoon. Weekend; youngest grandson has a 6th grade basketball tournament tomorrow; first game at 9A; at least it's at his school; so far they are undefeated; his travel team has two games Sunday afternoon at our county seat high school; they also are undefeated so far this year. A football game in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium tomorrow night that's getting a lot of publicity might "peek" my curiosity.. Sunday school + church Sunday morning. Winter shop rules remain in force as does the search for that perfect grail, holiday, circular pastry. steven newman, Gerald, HARO50 and 5 others 5 3 Quote

I'm in my basement and needed lumber storage. Somewhere I came across the idea to make a lumber rack. It is completely customizable. I built mine out of 2x4's and it goes from the floor to the ceiling. The tops of the posts are tied into the ceiling joist- which are actually the floor joist of the house main floor. The lumber supports are angled up at about 5°. Spacing between the lumber supports and between the vertical uprights is what ever suits your environment and needs. Here's an idea for the cart If you use Sketchup, I have several drawings for the cart. Larry Buskirk, BB1, Grandpadave52 and 4 others 7 Quote

That's a lot of math to lean stuff against the wall. However it might explain a few things...I need to do some recalculations. Larry Buskirk, BB1, lew and 4 others 2 5 Quote

Popular Post kmealy Posted December 5 Popular Post Report Posted December 5 Had an interesting day yesterday. There was a local business that does a 'charity day' every year. The company treats them to lunch, then they do a project in the afternoon. This is a small company with about 40 people in the factory. they bought two pallets of RTA furniture (a dresser and a nightstand) and had their employees assemble them coached by 3 of us from the furniture bank. Problem was, only about 4 of them spoke English. About 80% of the staff was female, that was not a problem, but trying to explain directions got a little funny. Popular Post SigmundJake Posted December 6 Popular Post Report Posted December 6 Want to get my air scrubber up on the ceiling. I got the brackets, eye bolts and chains in place. Time to recruit my bride to assist me getting it hung. It only weighs 35# so there is that. Then I’m going to remeasure my widows and cut some trim. Planning on assembling it in the shop and bring it in to put up. What can go wrong right? Was it 78 1/2” or 87 1/2”? Thanks to @Grandpadave52 I’m laughing. lew, Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk and 4 others 2 5 Quote
Popular Post DuckSoup Posted December 6 Popular Post Report Posted December 6 Spent this past week setting out decorations for the holidays, I'm the laborer on this crew. The tree goes up today & decorated tomorrow; the Sunday coffee club will take care of that. Patti starts her baking next week & I hide until I'm called for, sometimes for a sampling, it's a dirty job but I'm happy to step up. I'm kind of curious what's going to happen in Indiana as well. Popular Post SigmundJake Posted December 6 Popular Post Report Posted December 6 We laughed as the outfeed table isn’t quite as steady as I thought when you get to the long edge. But after a woah or two we got it. After lunch I will get the last filter installed and run it. I will do a post on it later on. Larry Buskirk, BB1, lew and 5 others 8 Quote
