December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Friday again Folks. Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we got 3-4" of YUCK! overnight. We Energies also has Asplundh tree service coming today to basically remove our front tree line for an upcoming rerouting of powerlines. Guess I'll have to see if the motor for the shovel will start without any donuts for fuel. That's about it here, ... What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post As little as I can get away with....even less IF they let me. Might start up a "Build-along" about a few leftovers?
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Helping Marie with the Christmas baking stuff, hosting youngest daughter and her group tomorrow. Try to find time to clean carpets in the family room. Not much piddling time until after Christmas....if then

I know it's gotta be done Larry, but how do ya feel about that? I've seen stuff like this happen in our neighborhood and it's always sad to see all those trees go away. Specially if they provided privacy and/or shade.
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Got about an inch of s#@w in the last hour and still coming down. No plans for today except for some domestic duties then watching a football game tonight; haven't been informed yet what my plans over the weekend will be. Whoever lost their (head) cold, PM me; pretty sure I know where it is. Probably should think about Christmas shopping soon. Shop remains closed; closest donut is 12 miles away. Still trying to figure out what I'll do with that extra 90 seconds of daylight Sunday.
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post errands today: go to post office to pick up package. ugh. go to walmart to find cheap cell phone on ATT network (no verizon reception out here). ughx2. some groceries, nom, nom, nom.......not as much ugh. and get some laundry done. please notice the distinct lack of shop time......

Basically, they're going to do it whether you want it done or not, don't mind them taking the two big Maples down I'm pretty sure they're both hollow anyway. Do kind of mind the big Oak, and the row of Mulberry trees. There go the Mulberry pies. Sure, will be a lot more sun coming in from that side probably be good for the Butterfly Garden. There's a few Eastern White Pines far enough behind the "Danger Zone" that provide some "View Block" that I'll be filling in between with a few Juniper Bushes to recomplete "The Wall" If nothing else, I'll have plenty of firewood for a while.

Just been informed we are having a house full of guest on the evening of the 24th and more on the 25th. Hey @DAB is there any room in that inn for a weary soul (me)?

So far, we've shoveled the driveway, moved the Pilot to Bruce's parking lot so Asplundh could get in with their truck and equipment. Got called from Bruce to come pull him with the Blazer plow off of the snowbank he somehow got it up on sideways with the passenger's side rear wheel hanging off the ground. (Don't ask me ) I'm ready for a six pack of donuts! 7 minutes ago, John Morris said: Any of it look ok for lumber or turning blanks? I'm sure there probably is but the closest sawmill closed a couple of years or so ago. Closest one now that will do personal work is about 150 miles away.
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Trying to FINISH some of the projects that I have going! (Is it OK to use that F-word here?)

December 21, 20241 yr Popular Post Got the tractor lean to done earlier this week. Still more modifications to come. Went on my annual Santa run and did a little shopping on the way. Had to get a fuel line for the leaf blower which I tried miserably to also tighten the pull cord , UGG. Got the teeth in got tractor bucket and guess what .... yep had to come home and drill it to mount maybe tomorrow. Oh I forgot about picking up a bunch of hamburger on sale for 3.79 and of coarse putting it up in freezer tonight. Did I say I am pooped? Edited December 21, 20241 yr by Gerald

Still can't figure out how he managed to get the Blazer on top of the snowbank sideways. I cracked up laughing when I got to the north end of his building and saw the right rear tire hanging in the air. Bruce said he didn't want to call me, but after figuring out he wasn't going to just drive it back off the snowbank did. Can tell for a fact those street tread tires are pretty useless for plowing snow with.
December 21, 20241 yr Popular Post Doing some house cleaning, laundry, getting Xmas decorations out, hanging some framed pictures. Getting the bedrooms ready for guests. Misc. stuff. Nothing exciting. Did some grocery shopping yesterday, but still a lot more to do.
