December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Decembrrr Not a whole lot going on here on this frigid Friday folks. It's so cold here even the internet is in slow motion. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Another good week; not a lot of horsepower yet, but gaining. All my tests, procedures and future doctor appointments are set up for now anyways. Headed out in a bit for errands, get my driver's license renewed, then picking Mrs. car up and on to the "big city" North to SafeLight to get the windshield replaced. A 6 pack (yes, still donuts) may be obtained after. Oldest grandson has 8th grade county basketball tourney tomorrow starting at 9A. Sunday AM will be church. I suspect a nap will follow shortly thereafter.

December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post I have been working on a project all week and hoped to finish it this weekend but with the high humidity and cold (yes us Texans think 33° is cold) I won't get it sealed with polyurethane as I had hoped. It's supposed to rain all weekend so I will be sticking close to home. My duck suit is at the cleaners.
December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Yet another doctor visit for Marie this afternoon, this time for an injection to relieve back pain. That pretty much ties up today for me, not sure what's going on this weekend...may try to turn a Christmas gnome.
December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Cold and slippery out there. Putzin around the house and staying warm.
December 6, 20241 yr Waiting around on a Service Tech...to fix the Furnace that quit 2 nights ago....18 degrees outside....and not much better inside... Will see how things go...have 3 small space heaters running, and barely keeping up.... Maybe once the heat is back on, I might see about getting a box finished up....destined to be a Christmas Present for a Grandson....
December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post Went to my local (independent) tool dealer this morning for their annual open house and sale. Lots of vendors there demonstrating stuff. Saw Kreg's new "domino killer" machine (meh). Festool was demonstrating their "bionic man" on a guy from a contractor of some sort. I missed the hot dog trick with the SawStop. Other vendors were Laguna, Tenryu, Triton routers, etc. The wood turners' club had some live demos and making piles of shavings. Just about everything in the store was 15-25% off.
December 6, 20241 yr Popular Post We NOW have a nice warm house, again.....was a little "Limit Switch" that had failed...Been a LONG 3 days....I think I'll just kick back a while...

Yes, I have bought all my big equipment from them and also what we bought for the Furniture Bank. Great people. I was talking to the service guy, who is also a friend of mine. He was on his phone and showed me the customers he services. Ohio and Indiana were covered completely, and a few in MI, KY, and PA
December 7, 20241 yr Popular Post Ugh, just finished replacing a GFCI that kept popping. First problem was that it was sitting behind a wall of my spray booth so that needed to have some carriage bolts removed that were really hard to get to. Got that out of the way. Second problem was the new one was a different brand and the line and load lines were changed from top to bottom. It went directly to a duplex outlet in the same box, so the wires needed to be moved. And did I say that 12 ga wire is as stiff as all get out. Then getting the outlets back in and square enough to fit in the outlet cover was another challenge. Glad it's done. At my last house, I put one in the kitchen and it kept popping, usually overnight when nothing was plugged into it. Another one went in the garage with similar problems. Ugh, they are a pain in the butt, just go get a new one.

It's supposed to rain all weekend so I will be sticking close to home. My duck suit is at the cleaners. Well I decided what the heck, I got a heater in the garage and the humidity wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, so I finished the project. Sometimes things that wouldn't bother normal people irritates the heck out of me and I guess this is one of those times. I have had the same napkin holder for more than 30 years. What bothers me about it is that as you take napkins out the remaining napkins start to slouch making them hard to get to. So my wee brain started contemplating "Does anyone make an auto-adjusting napkin holder?" My search of the Web did not find such a beast so my natural conclusion was, "I'll see if I can make one." Early last week I started working on a prototype. I had several ideas about what would power this marvelous contraption and finally settled on gravity. Won't ever run out of that power source, RIGHT? So I began working on the prototype. After ironing out several design flaws I came up with this. As you might be able to tell from the side views, as napkins are removed from the holder the weight of the front ornament pushes the plexiglass plunger forward filling in the gap left by the removed napkins. Do I have too much time on my hands or what? Edited December 8, 20241 yr by Bubba Spelling
