November 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Friday again folks. Going to have to keep it short it's been a rough week; I'm dealing with a case of walking pneumonia. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
November 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Today I'm trying to recover from Thanksgiving, I'm worn out. But tomorrow the Christmas decorating begins and as much as I support reducing the decoration effort, someone else in the house seems to forget how old we are.
November 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Waiting until the Black Friday Mobs go back home...need to go to the store. Need to install hardware and feet on the Resaw Box Project.... Big Thanksgiving Dinner is Tomorrow.....about a 90 mile each way drive...

The thanksgiving crowd is getting smaller, but we are still cooking enough to feed the 7th Calvery. I was able to stop by to see @HandyDan and share a cup of coffee. Dan & Patti exchanged gifts & she feels she comes out ahead in the exchange, I enjoy the coffee. The fourth one is on its way to Columbus. Thanks Dan.

November 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Good week so far especially being untethered. Quiet day at home so far today; no supervision; had considered going out on Black Friday; RK had unbelievable prices on 9mm hole creators. Then I saw it was White Friday on the ground. Going to daughters/SIL this evening for a basic, Thanksgiving meal. No plans for tomorrow that I've been informed about. I may try church services in person Sunday; it's been a while. Shop is now observing winter work rules: when your tongue sticks to the tools, too cold to work. 22° out there right now with snow showers. Donuts don't survive in that environment.

November 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Well, I guess walking pneumonia is better than flat out in bed pneumonia, but still! I still have the cough from a cold 3 weeks ago, that's nothing compared to pneumonia! Hope you get better soon. Today I finally looked into why my trusty Hitachi 8" slider is acting up (got to spin the blade a little to get it to start). Brushes worn down to nubs. Went to Amazon to order a couple more sets and found this: Better than being in the stores I guess, but black Friday is awful even shopping online Going to drag out my big chopsaw and use it instead. That Hitachi is my favorite, I've had it 20 years and bought it used from Kent's tools in Tucson. Hitachi sure made some great tools in the 80's and 90's! When I first moved to NM in 2005, I remember seeing one of these saws new at the Ace Hardware in Santa Fe. I should have bought it.....

The rest part is easier said than done. Finally got a few hours of sleep last night, first time I could lay down without having a coughing/choking fit since Tuesday. Either it will pass, or I will.

I myself don't do Amazon, but that bunch of gobbledegoop looks like even their computer system went on strike.

Get your doctor to give you some Benzonatate pills. Calm a cough immediately.

Probably just something overwhelmed on a busy shopping day. I've seen that site do it before (also running linux with a browser called Brave - both of which tend to show you the gritty details that windows and mac sweep under a rug or keep behind a curtain). Gave it a couple hours and then went back and found my brushes. Paid for shipping for once, I want those things quick.

They've got a pretty good selection and so far, they've had what I needed or something I could make work. Most expensive were a little under $2.00 each.

What Distro of Linux? I've been playing around with Zoran myself. Haven't tried the Brave browser. Been using the Chromium Project browser.
November 30, 20241 yr Popular Post got a series of texts from a gal i know. she bought herself a new home (new to her), and it needs a set of exterior steps (looks like 5-6 steps). do i know how to build stairs? um, yes. do i want to build these stairs? noooooo...... it would involve 6 foundation holes, 12" diameter, 36" deep each. concrete work, framing work......sorry dear, you'll have to pay someone with proper energy and tools to knock these off. here's some generic plans of what "correct" looks like.....
