October 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Well what do you know, it's Friday again folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I've been working on getting the yard ready for winter, and in between that reloading operating systems on the computer one of the cats messed up a few months ago. Weather permitting I'll be doing more winter yard preparations, if not I'll be playing around with that computer. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
October 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Doughnuts and woodturning learnings with @Masonsailor tomorrow morning and a deep dive into stickley side tables to compliment the recent modified morris chair. Shop time will be mainly dedicated to cleanup
October 25, 20241 yr Popular Post Busy week for me at least. Doctor appointment Tuesday went well; very thorough, then on to hospital for lab work. My hemoglobin count has improved significantly since I was dismissed from the hospital but still a ways to go before it's in the normal range. Found out my iron level is extremely low too. Both of these plus couple others explains the extreme fatigue so a couple new Rx's to help. I've lost a litte over 25 lbs since this ordeal began. If you find them, please don't send them back. I did drive on my own for the first time since the morning of September 15. Went to the funeral services for a cousin late afternoon Tuesday. Afterwards, ran the car through the car wash. It was dust encased from sitting for over a month. Plan to get dressed in big boy clothes early tomorrow to go vote. Later, watch the IU-Washington football game. Youngest granddaughter has a swim meet downstate; not sure yet if it will be livestreamed; if not, I can follow events on my Meet Mobile app. Donuts are out until after Halloween. Too scary Edited October 25, 20241 yr by Grandpadave52

Mulch is coming on Monday & we will soon put this project to bed till spring.

October 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Still working on walnut butcher block top for a new base cabinet. Phyl has been busy painting all the original kitchen cabinets and island base. She chose a deep forest green for the base and white for the uppers. Looks really nice. This is just a third of the newly painted cabinets. Edited October 26, 20241 yr by Gene Howe

A very tough way to lose weight; I'll stick with exercise and trying to watch what I eat (doesn't work as well or as fast, though). It does seem like you're on the road to recovery for which I'm thankful. Edited October 26, 20241 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr

Oddly because I have no real appetite for it. Since they identified the bladder stone(s) chemistry, there's been other dietary restrictions but nothing major so far. Mostly, my appetite just isn't there. I suppose a lot is due to the lack of any real physical activities. I'm ready to turn the page and move on for sure.
October 27, 20241 yr Popular Post Built and tuned a 6m dipole and raised it on a 30' mast. Inverted V configuration (ends lower than the center) makes it omnidirectional. At that frequency, it's just a baby, less than 10' from end to end. 6m is known as the magic band and falls in the VHF spectrum. The magic part refers to the occasional band openings that allow signals to reach nearly all points on the globe at low power. Helping Mrs. Boss around the house today to get ready for guests next weekend. Bday and retirement party rolled into one for yours truly. Menu is Birria tacos on the Blackstone, Mexican street corn, and banana pudding instead of a cake. Took Q'bert the RV in for service yesterday to Aggieland Chevy in College Station. Getting dashboard warnings for traction control and brake service. Chassis is Chevy 3500. They think it's a sensor issue, brakes are operating correctly. Rain and cooler weather forecasted for Wednesday through next Sunday. Sounds like shop time to me. .40

Had a lack of appetite after chemo, turns out to be damage to the adrenal gland over my right kidney. I'm on a low dose of prednisone & it has helped with motivation & eating habits.
