Friday October 18th 2024-Whats on your weekend agenda?

That time of the week again folks, it's Friday! :D

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I've been playing around trying out a couple of Linux Distros.

Also working on getting things done in the yard before we get that frozen rain syndrome known as SNOW. <_<

With that I'll ask, What's on your weekend agenda?

Right now, waiting on a friend of Mimi's to bring her laptop for me to look at. The problem, as relayed to me, "the computer keeps rolling". Your guess is as good as mine...

D32 of recovery mode. Antibiotics seem to be helping and everything seems to be working OK after Tuesdays early AM, ER trip. Learned last night a cousin passed away unexpected. He was 65. Services this coming Tuesday afternoon. I have a doctor's appointment a bit earlier the same day so unsure if I can attend.

Big day tomorrow hopefully. Haircut in the afternoon. Already been rescheduled 2x in the past month; really need one bad; bald spots are almost covered over. It would be my first non-medical outing since the morning of September 15th. To celebrate after, I may pick-up a 6 pack (of donuts) assuming I can get spousal approval since she is also the designated driver. Virtual church services Sunday.

The next few days I believe would be considered "indigenous summer" so I will finally paint the garage tomorrow.

Phyl bought an unassembled (modular?) base drawer cabinet and two unassembled wall cabinets for the kitchen. We've been doing assembly for the last two days. Instructions a bit vague. But, we persevered. Mostly done. Will need to build a butcher block top for the base unit. Might just have enough mesquite for the job. If not, I know where to get more.

Prepping the yard for winter, need to till some compost into the vegatable gardens. The soil may be too dry for me to do that, but there's no rain coming our way for some time. Tried the shop furnace out on Wednesday with the cold snap we're having, didn't even turn on. I was short of panic and checked the owners manual. Turns out there's a 5 amp fuse on the control board that was blown...it also turned out that I had some on hand (never happened that way before). The fuse was in about the most inaccessible place it could have been but after much foul language and using my 10" pair of hemostats (go HF) I got it in and the furnace works just fine.

FWIW, today is National Chocolate Cupcake Day, at least up here. That might tide you over if the boss won't agree to donuts. :Eat:

Since I been transferred from the field to the office, I have every other Friday off instead of every Friday off. Working today! But the good thing is, it's very quiet on Fridays, nobody to answer too, nobody to harass me!

We'll be leaving for SC next Friday, we'll be looking at colleges with our youngest girl, she wants to go out there on the GI Bill, while stationed at Ft Stewart GA she fell in love with the region so she wants to be a veterinarian's assistant and eventually a vet. So the colleges we'll be looking at are Pendelton College for Vet Tech in SC, a couple in Tenn, and maybe one in NC.

I'll tell ya what, that GI bill is incredible these days!

As a sidebar, while looking at colleges online, Virginia caught my attention for a possible retirement landing. Specifically the area above KY, beautiful country up there. Some neat towns like Jonesville, and the whole Lee County area looks beautiful. Has a decent hospital as well it seems.

Fun fun!

Y'all have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!

Shopwise, I’m playing catch up building for an annual Christmas show on November 9th.  City Council wise, just fielding complaints about discolored water due to a new $3,100,000 water plant upgrade.  I despise Facebook.

If it's pink water good luck the subdivision behind me has been dealing with it for over 10 years.
