September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Might have to wait for things to dry up around here. We received our first rain overnight in over "Two Weeks" here "Two Weeks From Anywhere". Now I suppose the lawn will recover so I'll have to mow it again. Other than that, I've been harvesting "Wildflower" seeds as the plants go to seed. Should have a pretty good crop of Milkweed, Joe Pye Weed and about two dozen other Wildflowers for next year's "Chaos Garden" with the seeds I've collected. So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Have Not been informed..yet. Boss has not said. Need one more mortise chopped out and fitted...and MAYBE a glue up done...we'll see..
September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Working on some bowl blanks and whatever shows up next at the front door.
September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post Will be doing some car shopping with/for Mrs. Boss. Going to look at a used 2024 Volvo XC40 and a Honda Passport. Both vehicles have less than 4000 miles. Polly the Pilot is getting kind of long in the tooth. Personally, I'm rooting for the Volvo. Will also be spending some time in Q'bert the RV. Getting her shipshape for another adventure next weekend. Will be meeting her sister and hubby at Lake Somerville State Park Friday. .40
September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post made a walking staff for my character in the play. old guys had walking staffs. and old aspen branch from a long dead tree. scraped, sanded, some beeswax mix applied. 72" tall (my eye height).
September 20, 20241 yr Popular Post i normally like nice, clean wood, good grain, straight, joined well to make something with beauty and utility. but this was found about 60 yards from my house, part of an old, felled aspen tree. a branch. was looking for something about 6 feet long, 1-1/2 to 2 inches diameter at the large end, mostly straight. this has some neat worm eating action that happened under the bark long ago. just something a first century guy might turn into a handy walking staff. a little work and Ta-Da!

Somehow, I can just see you booting people out of the inn and chasing them with that staff

September 21, 20241 yr Popular Post More working on the on going table project. Next town up the hill the volunteer fire department is having a fire prevention/education day. I'm bringing an engine from the VFD at work for the parade. Then just have to vacuum the house and clean the bathrooms and I can go back to work Monday and get some rest

September 21, 20241 yr Popular Post Since retiring every day is Saturday, but this Saturday I’m getting the motor home ready for our fall adventure. The plan is to be on the road for a couple months, visiting with grandkids, eating fresh sea food in Louisiana, visiting friends in Texas before returning to Michigan for the long cold winter. last week I was able to burn up a bunch of my bowl scraps in the smoker. Cooked a bunch of BBQ meals for the road.

September 21, 20241 yr Popular Post Finished planting in the cottage garden week before last, 94 plants & 20 phlox. I'm not permitted to go to the garden center till spring. Allium bulbs showed up this week and tulips, daffodils & other bulbs are right behind. My daughters are coming in town next month to us plant all the bulbs. I may have over-ordered. I found 3 allium plants that I liked so I ordered 3 of each. When they arrived, I realized one of the three I ordered was packs of 25 so I have 75 of those. I spent last week removing ferns & hosta from the planter next to the garage & had a 1 1/2 yards of topsoil delivered. I'll use the area for sunflowers & extra plants and bulbs we may have. Next week I might paint the garage.
September 21, 20241 yr Popular Post I’m back on the bathroom remodel. Today and tomorrow will involve framing, moving plumbing and some electrical and if all goes well ( serious wishful thinking) some drywall work. Paul

So, we went to the blue box store looking for a storm door but the one we liked they did not have. On the way out we checked the clearance rack in the garden center & I convinced her that these 5 plants needed saving, I'll put them out by the garage after painting.

September 22, 20241 yr Popular Post Friday I really didn't have any plans for the weekend but Saturday morning the tinker bug hit me so I built another storage box. I use bicycle chain link components for various projects and had parts stored in plastic butter containers, pill bottles and zip lock bags so I decided to build a compartmented box (my first) to store the components together. This afternoon I will be going to an in-law's house to pitch some bean bags and see if the Cowboys can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again. Have a great Sunday and I hope your favorite football wins today.............unless your favorite team is the Baltimore Ravens that is.

Cool way to keep the lid from leaning back too far.
