June 3, 20242 yr Popular Post Spent a good bit of time in the yard pruning. To be followed up today with mowing, edging, etc. etc. Balance of the week looks to be busy making some sawdust for a change and prepping for that June trip north. I have also logged in with my phone. I am finding it a bit (a lot of bit) cumbersome compared to using the desktop. I will try to start using the phone so that I can maybe keep up with things while I am "on tour"

June 3, 20242 yr Popular Post Wasn't totally over the weekend but I did finally get a tenoning jig built, one that uses the miter track instead of the fence. I had the older delta one but I changed saws and it wouldn't work on the new saw. (long story) I had been meaning to replace it with a shop built one and just hadn't got around to it until now. All the holes on the face was from tweaking the original Woodsmith design to my liking. I also started turning a lidded box, my first. Still not finished...this was a practice piece on a piece of junk wood; I just did it to see if I could. I need to clean the inside up a little more before I apply a finish (that's why it's still in the chuck). Lastly, Marie had a coon raiding here bird feeder. She got a new feeder for Mother's Day that has a camera so she watched the critter clean the feeder out. I've been trying to trap him the last 3 nights....finally got him last night. It's a Conibear trap so death was instantaneous. The problem is he won't be the only one, so I'll have to put up a round steel fence post to hold the feeder.
June 3, 20242 yr Just spent an hour on the phone with the I.R.S. in response to a question they had about our return only to have the person transfer me to their recording about their website and having it hang up on me.
June 3, 20242 yr Popular Post after i deliver the tables wednesday, i'll start work on some projects for the pistol range.

June 4, 20242 yr Popular Post Ok..fun is fun...but pushing around a 22" lawn mower in ankle deep Grass/Weeds is NOT one of them...getting way too old for such nonsense.... yard is mowed....suppose to rain tomorrow. sitting here in front of the AC Unit...trying to get cooled down. Anything else can just wait until tomorrow... Them Tulip trees make a royal mess of things...had to sweep the back patio off, too... Methinks there will be a Tonic & Gin later tonight...
June 4, 20242 yr Popular Post Didn't get here until very early Tuesday morning (12:45ish AM) Busy, but productive and rewarding weekend. Today didn't go as planned. I had ordered (2) "used" pushrods for the mower off eBay last week. They arrived today...right JD (& Kawasaki) part number but they aren't that part number part; about an inch +/- too long...so will deal with that tomorrow. Finished the mowing with a patched up old pushrod I'd saved. After that started attacking the one million wild mulberry treettes, bushes or whatever growing rampant around here. Every one has a record crop this year. Personally I hate mulberries. Daughter and the grandkids love them...I hate the trees even more. It'll be an entire summer job, but I'm determined this year to get them out of the fence rows...only 999,999 to go. Baseball games TU & TH evenings. A trip to Rural King, Menards and probably Harbor Freight (go H-F) is planned. May stop and look at a used pick-up I spotted...we'll see. Special music concert at church Wednesday night. Right now I'm just relaxing, tilted back in my chair, sipping a big mug of ice water after the long, hot shower. My back aches, but actually doesn't hurt for a change. All this manual, outside labor the past couple of weeks is finally paying off...maybe. Oh, the radishes are up in the raised bed garden. Work safe, rest often, stay hydrated and get prepared for the biggest and most exciting day of the year this coming Friday. Edited June 4, 20242 yr by Grandpadave52
