May is quickly coming to a close. I think about my teaching friends and how busy they are at this time of the year.

Our Patriot Turners-

@HARO50 gave us a look at a display he saw at a gift shop. Lots of interesting turnings, including some turned, wooden hats!

Expand Your Horizons-

I have recently been looking at John Beaver's work and considering attempting one of his wave bowls.

(His bowl, not mine!)

I'm not sure if I'm more intrigued by the actual bowl or the elaborate processes involved. Anyway, Alan Stratton just posted a video on creating a multipurpose jig that used Mr. Beaver's process as part of the inspiration for the new jig.

Hmmmmm....

Ron Brown has a new gauge for measuring the thickness of a bowl bottom. Looks well made and universal for all lathes and chuck/jaws.

Thanks Lew.  Those hats are really cool but I don't think I could go that thin without disappointing myself.

I never saw the Steady Pro that is in the Woodcraft picture.  Looks interesting.

I've had one of those Banksia Pods for years and never did anything with it.  Might have to dig it up.

Yoder is one of my favorite guys, I just find him entertaining....but he's still way ahead of what I'm capable of. What surprised me was how much the lathe was wobbling when he turned that burl, but yet the Go-Pro fastened to the lathe seemed to show a steady picture. Very nicely done.
