February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post After several tries, we finally got our water heater's lower element replaced with an element that didn't leak. Bought the first one at Ace. Couldn't get it tight enough to not leak. Defective product. Went to HD and bought another one of better quality. The tank was drained 3 times in trying to make the first one work. Had to un install, dope and tape it 3 times. Still leaked. Drained the tank for the 4th time and installed the one from HD and it didn't leak on the first try. I don't often find products, bought from Ace, defective but this one sure was. Wasn't trying to go the cheapest route. Ace was closest. The HD element was $ 0.13 more expensive. All our drive ways are covered with several tons of white rock. All of those drives were treated last month with pre-emergent weed killer but, some of the peskier weeds escaped. Today's job was going to be applying weed killer to those. May need to delay that due to the rain we're getting now. That means I can possibly complete a couple scroll saw projects. That is if the wife hasn't got something planned with her bro and SIL visiting from IL.
February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post Monday Monday? I think I've caught what the other two people in the house had over the past weekend.... Supposed to hit 60 degrees this week? Will see how things go...."Carry on! I'll be in the area all day"
February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post The weekend brought improvement for me. Starting to feel human again and getting around better. Walking seems to work wonders.
February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post I was able to spend a good amount of time in the shop this past weekend. I'm happy to report that after an abscence from said shop for several weeks, I haven't lost a step. I can still make errors up there with the best of them!
February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post Busy weekend. Saturday afternoon, attended 90th birthday party for our former church secretary hosted by her family. It was fun. Lots of people. After, wife and I went grocery shopping for our church food pantry annual drive. Sunday, church services, quick lunch after, home for a bit, then back to church for quarterly "family fun night." Also to celebrate 3 of our senior members birthdays; two 90 y/o, one 80 y/o. The second 90 y/o has been our pianist for many years and still is; occasionally she still gives lessons out of her home. Three amazing ladies. Cool hanging out with them; interesting stories and makes me feel so young at 71 again One more birthday to celebrate this week. Our daughters birthday is today. 45 years goes by very quickly. Party is tomorrow night; wrestling meet conflict tonight. Regular Monday "gruber" aka gramps uber service today for youngest grandson after school music practice. Remainder of the week TBD with the weather roller-coaster forecast. So many things to do...so little motivation.
February 26, 20242 yr Popular Post Didn't get much done this weekend. Just kinda out of it, maybe the not working that well knee. Yea I know only 5 weeks out but it is depressing when you just don't seem to get anything done. Got the Rotating Table mounted on Cross Slide Vise to set up for JaHo jig on lathe. Waiting for boring head to arrive tomorrow and still have to align center with headstock. Hope to get the drawer made for headstock storage or maybe call regular use drawer or maybe in use drawer. mmmm HS or RUD or IUD interesting abbreviations. Yesterday finally got those display cases my son acquired out of my truck. I like driving the truck much better than the Highlander.

Looks like it is going to greatly expand your ability to embellish your turnings!

February 27, 20242 yr After meeting friends at breakfast, a hair cut, a stop at Lowe's for a couple PT 2x4's I started a simple fence repair yesterday in the back yard. Weather is supposed to be in the 70's all week so my plans are to work in the yard as much as I can. A lot of trees are in flower right now so pollen is pretty high. It will get much higher but right now, like clockwork for the last week, about 8-8:30 PM I sit down to watch TV and just begin sneezing...
February 27, 20242 yr Popular Post after much driving around and waiting.....it's the flu. plain old flu. not covid, not pneumonia, just the flu. got meds, having soup, resting, feeling better. shop clean up will have to wait.

February 28, 20242 yr Popular Post I had the Cross Vise Ordered the Boring head on Amazon. Can find it cheaper by about 20 on Aliexpress but I was not familiar with the machinist terms to get the mt2. This one has bits which might be cheaper without them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3MQ7W7M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Found the best price on the Rotating table on eBay but got offers for 20 less after I ordered this one. Got the tilting 3" to allow versatility. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334460702532?var=334460702532

Have to look first.
