February 29, 20242 yr Popular Post Got all the parts put together and tried the bits that came with the boring head got a lot of vibration. Remounted the Rotating Deck as I had in mounted on a aluminum plate to get it straight to the vise ways ( this due to the mounting holes in deck not matching holes in vise) . Second concern the bits in boring head will not work as the wrong grind. I ordered some HSS rod 12mm to make bits. And last I noticed in the video the Cross Side is much smaller than the one I have which just means some manipulation , but that will happen on each piece anyway.

The bit in the video was strait on. I noticed he had a little play in his set up. I would devise a method to take up any slack before each cut. Bungee cord? Your updates are helpful. March 1, 20242 yr Popular Post Thanks Lew I have some square HSS bits. Dan the thing about router bits is the head is 12mm and 1/2 in shaft will not fit in it. I thought I saw a round bit with a flat and then pointed end in video. Of coarse the end can be any shape you want but the cut will reflect the shape somewhat . Just cannot see this leaving a ogee or other shapes even if the round bit was shaped that way. Have not tried again since I took the Al plate off but I think that was the vibration problem.
