Marking gauge, the "New & Improved" one..to lay out for dovetails... :TwoThumbsUp:

Then a little bit of layout work.. :OldManSmiley:

Yep, I do "Pins First" :JawDrop: then a wee bit of a saw... :ChinScratch:

Chisels and such to chop out the waste, mark the tails by using these pins to trace around...saw and chop.. :Cheer:

First dry fit...

So, in 90 minutes of shop time today...rinse and repeat, until.. :KooKooClock:

the other 3 corners are done... :Cheer:

So, what will be going into this case? :WonderScratch:

these 2 Stanley No. 77 Mortise gauges....yellow lines? I need to make a holder/rest for them long arms to sit on/in...will add 2 notches. Need to also cut a bottom panel..and work on the lid a bit :TwoThumbsUp:

After that? I might just see how fancy I can get? :ChinScratch:

A glue up happened.. :ChinScratch: First I needed a bracket made.. :Cheer:

Might be a bit rough to install this afterwards.. :OldManSmiley:

Goal being to keep the long sides from bowing in when the clamps are done..let this sit overnight.. :KooKooClock:

Then, today, these clamps came off, all 4 sides and the top and bottom of the box were planed and sanded clean, and square.. :TwoThumbsUp:

Next, a 1/4" plywood panel was cut to size, glue was spread around...making sure it was the bottom edge of the box.. :WonderScratch:

There is a caul across the middle, because .. :ChinScratch:

There was glue on the bottom of the bracket as well...will let this sit a while...then maybe work on a lid? :OldManSmiley:

Will add strips around on the underside of the lid...more wood for the hinges and latch to grab onto.. :ChinScratch:

And maybe add these,, :TwoThumbsUp:

Might see about a label? :WonderScratch:

Box is out of the clamps. :Cheer:

Had 2 high spots to flatten down...edges were sanded and planed flush, then a slight bevel added.

Then set the box onto the panel for the lid..marked around the box... :OldManSmiley:

Need to plane to the lines...so.. :SaluteandRun:

We have ways.. :DevilLaughing: .The No. 3 was..OK, except for when it came back too far....front porch is a bit short...No. 5-1/2 had a better, longer front porch...

Next up.. :WonderScratch:

Used this to make... :Cheer:

These sticks. Then set up this.. :ChinScratch:

To miter the ends... :SaluteandRun:

Then some glue and clamps...

Will let this sit a day...maybe? :rolleyes:

As for how well the two No. 77s fit in the box? :ChinScratch:

Should keep them from rattling around.. :TwoThumbsUp:

Hardware tomorrow? Have to clean up the lid, and get it fitted to the box...no gaps allowed.. :ChinScratch:

Question now is....Brand the Logo on the inside of the lid, or on top of the lid? Hmmmmm? :WonderScratch:

Still learning HOW to use this phone camera....hardest part was keeping me fingers out of the way..

That's a pretty fancy February box Steven! Brand it on the inside, and something on the outside to identify the contents...

@Pauley recently posted up a completed project where he used a burn paste to create a really nice tray (I think it was).
