Happy New YearWell here we are folks, embarking on a New Year already! My goodness, it went by quick, we always say that, but as I get older and our kids get older, the time is flying by and for awhile now I've been feeling my own mortality sometimes.

Well folks, I just wanted to say to you all, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here and making our woodworking community a pretty unique experience all around. Thank you again for your time spent here, and helping us stay live throughout the year.

So, what you all got on your New Years Eve agenda tonight? We want to know!

Same thing as the last several years, watch some TV until about 9 or so, then off to bed. Marie will stay up to watch the ball drop, I may have an extra beer tonight; that's 3 instead of 2. My way of celebrating the winding down of football season. Exciting stuff. :throbbinghead:

...and THANKS TO YOU @John Morrisfor all you do behind the scenes to provide us with such a great site to hang out. A privilege and blessing to have been here during the past year.

We had an impromptu celebration right after church today. Took our daughter and SIL (grandsons at their dads) out to lunch at the local Chinese buffet.

Reading this thread reminded me to set my phone alarm for 11:52P, EST. That wakes us up in our recliners, gives time to go to the bathroom, watch the ball drop, turn the TV and lights off, exchange our groggy New Year greetings then off to bed. It's been our tradition for several years.

The Missus has been under the weather since Christmas. She tested negative for covid, but it’s kinda cold/flu thing. We were gonna go visit a neighbor across from us, cheese crackers and wine, but due to my wife’s condition we cancelled. So She went to bed around 8:00pm, and since WWII in Colour was on I somehow managed to stay up till 10:00pm. Our alarm cat managed to have us both up at 4:00am, so there’s that.

Happy New Year everyone :Cheer:

I was asleep by 8:30 PM. Around midnight,  turned off the TV and went to bed. I guess the ball dropped around 9 pm, our time.  Heard a few distant gun shots and/or fire crackers.

For Christmas,  our son gave us tickets to a dinner theater production for today. Reservations are for 15:00.

Yesterday, we pulled the carpet and got the new floor laid in the master bath closet. It's a big closet at 4X10. Used vinyl planks. Lots of cuts. That stuff leaves some nasty sawdust. Clings to every surface. Including our bodies. So, this morning's job is cleaning the shop. Just open the overhead door and use the leaf blower.

I actually stayed up! And my wife was on the sofa in and out of coma. Around 5:30 pm we went to get some Chinese food and brought it home, for some reason it just seems almost American to go to a Chinese restaurant on New Years Eve, don't know why. But because it was New Years Eve they packed that styro foam container to the top and tight! We had enough food for 4 people :)

We ate too much, and got tired really fast, after a cup of coffee I was raring to go, and the missus passed in and out all the way through, it was all in all a very wonderful relaxing NYE.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year, and great things throughout!

Happy New Year friends. From my own family minus one daughter who is with her husband tonight.

We hope you all are doing splendidly tonight, and into the morrow, please be safe and sane, remember your designated drivers, and just get home safe, see ya all on the other side of the year!
