October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Made it to another Friday folks. Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be heading to just south of "Three Weeks From Anywhere" this weekend to help install an overhead furnace. Haven't been able to get much done here in between all of the we've been getting. 4 days of rain 2 without 3 days of rain rinse repeat do it again. Good news is we're finally out of the drought conditions we've had most of the spring and summer this year. That's about it for here, what's on your weekend agenda?
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Rainy days today and tomorrow will curtail anything outside, may putter in the shop a little. I do have 2 projects on the radar as soon as I can go get some wood. I need some 8/4 QSWO for one of them. Right now I still need to be relatively close to the house to help Marie so no 70 mile trips (one way) to the lumber supplier.
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Rain also for us this weekend, big Craft show in 3 weekends, so hopefully SWMBO does come up with too many things to do and I can get a finish on those boxes
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Rain will keep me indoors also. I'll find something to do in the shop.
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Pele demands a sacrifice. Off cuts and failed specimens clean up in progress. I've got another wagon load to go after I empty the first one. .40
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Seems like rain is the predominate theme for the weekend- same here. Heading to the VA drive through flu clinic for my annual jab. Mimi will want to stop at the Olive Garden for lunch.
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post I ordered a 1/4" Forstner from the Zone. They sent me an 1 3/8," one. So, a trip to UPS for the return. Since I'm going to be close, Phyl's sending me with a grocery list and instructions to get a car wash. That will shoot most of the morning. Might get into the shop after lunch and a nap. This evening, we'll be dining out at our local cowboy bar. Friday night fish fry.Fridays is also Karioke night. Starts at 19:00. Hope to be outta there before that Starts. It's gawd awful!
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Got nothing IN the shop to putter with...NOT paying Lowes Prices.... Too wet outside for.. And not a whole lot to burn, anyway.... Have a run to the Grocery Store, whenever the clouds stop "Peeing"

Since I started wearing hearing aids the noise at large gatherings drives me nuts. I can't distinguish between conversation and background noise no matter how I adjust them. Usually just turn them off and try to read lips of the folks close by- or just leave.
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Been a busy week. A lot of windshield time. Still have the Enclave loaded from auction retrieval yesterday. Raining too hard to unload. Last day for the boys with us. Monthly men's breakfast tomorrow, then a few errands. Hope to watch some of the Livestream of granddaughters swim meet in the afternoon. Church responsibilities Sunday. Already have reservations in the recliner for the afternoon.
October 20, 20232 yr Popular Post Started the day with a trip to the big city with son to pick up some Dr Who trading cards he has invested in and they have gone up 100 already. We are hauling the Troy Build I have rehabed to his place for his storage and OUT of my shop. Plus we plan to expend a few cartridges at the berm we built on his property. Nothing like having enough space we could even have a 100 yard range. This afternoon hope to have time to finish Mario Mushrooms and barrel toothpick holders. @Lew I will not say you get used to that crowd noise but you learn to live with it. Those toothpick barrels are really neat! I agree about learning to live with crowd noise. I've learned that some venues are just not for me. Wife wanted to see Jeff Dunham at the Giant Center. She really enjoyed it. Kinda hard to read lips from 10 klicks. Most of the time I just smile and nod, in noisy environments.
October 21, 20232 yr Popular Post I have been pretty dog gone busy the past few weeks/weekends helping our daughter ready her new (to her) house. Last weekend the movers came and took over all the bigger furniture. I could have moved it over, but I am in no shape to carry it upstairs. That's for the most part all done now. We came home Monday, by Tuesday Julie was sick - she took a covid test yesterday be later today or tomorrow before results are back. At home tests are negative, but she seems to have all the symptoms. A lot of it (covid) going on around here, to include my sister & BIL that we haven't seen in about two months. Due to the aforementioned, all of my weekend "plans" have now changed. I will miss the Greek Festival in Macon (especially the food!), I will miss the play that I helped with a prop (I do have next weekend on this), I will miss the Dawgs (bye week). Unlike a lot of you, weather is supposed to be sunny and low 70's today - I think I will wash my truck and clean up the garage and prep for a few picture/mirror frames. I will have a couple college ball games on. What a relief to just be home for the weekend and not deal with Atlanta traffic! Note to @Gunny - and all that parking lot between Stockbridge and Locust Grove!!!
October 21, 20232 yr Popular Post Best to your daughter for a recovery from whatever it is, Cal...and hoping you don't come down with it!

Since we're finally out of the drought conditions after being down 5+ inches since April you can have what we've got coming for the next few days. Saw some farmers the other day trying to pull out a big JD 4x4 tractor the other day that was buried up to its axles. I'm not sure if they got it out, the two smaller tractors they were using were doing rear wheel stands trying to pull it out.
October 21, 20232 yr Got 2 sticks at the VA yesterday. They had flu and dreaded bug vaccines. Reminiscent of Boot Camp- one corpsman (actually corpsladies) on each side. Arms are a little tender today. But not nearly as bad as that Bicillian shot in Boot Camp!
October 21, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Looks like plans have been changed, won't be going up until Monday. Person I was going up to help got stuck baby-sitting his grandson until tomorrow evening. Better him than me, I can't handle those terrible two tantrums.
