September 19, 20232 yr Popular Post img_2149.mov Late for Monday as the wife had a hen party yesterday . Was doing last minute stuff. Weekend was good . Saturday woodturning club went off well . Yesterday while party was going on did some reorganizing of the stuff from my WW store in totes and got on the lathe. Trying to perfect tippy tops. Have actually gotten to the point I can be successful on 2 of 3 to work. Edited September 19, 20232 yr by Gerald

Then when my one-in-ten makes the grade, I feel like I've done something. You've noted Steve Newman gave me an 'Amazing' emoticon (an honor in itself ). He's one of the few that caught it. That fiddle neck heel is dovetailed. ALL fiddle heels are a tendon which fits into a mortise. That dovetail is the only one I've ever seen. A huge amount of extra work, but the strength is amazing. Given almost no room to mate (the strings create 80 pounds of tension), the joint was practical and maybe necessary ..

Inherited from my great-grandfather, who made a living doing garage clean-outs in an old sprawling mill town. Stuffed with old woodworking tools. At least two hundred hand planes. R-E-S-P-E-C-K-T

September 21, 20232 yr Popular Post Had a Blood Draw at the Doctor's Office, today....something about a liver test? Stopped at Menard's, looking for a hatchet handle....No-Go... Somehow, during all of this..I managed to lose 5 pounds!....might have been the Hospital food?

That, and hospital green walls tend to melt off 'extra' weight. I did a 2" x 200' gas line through an old Lutheran church while an apprentice. Three 22" stone bearing walls to hand-traverse! Me and my buddy ate lunch every day with parishioners in their cafeteria / senior center. I finally commented to my friend about the incredibly bland food ... and learned why.

Don't you just love it when the pipes you have to replace are imbedded in masonry walls, stairs, etc.?
