January 3, 20242 yr Popular Post Made a table for a church. They wanted a hardwood top. Although I made it with edge grain "up" the pieces were a little over 2" thick. I used K Body clamps and only glued a few pieces at a time. Then glued each section together, a few at a time. The only problem that I had was one of the "sections" had a slight bow along the length (1/32"). Jointed it out and the gluing. Wider board, like yours shouldn't pose that problem.
January 3, 20242 yr Popular Post Hi Cliff. I’m joining in a little late but if you want the joints to really be minimal visually you will need to get them jointed pretty straight. That’s doable with a 2hp and above router. I believe they added a link to a design with drawings I posted to build one. It’s a pretty straightforward build and except for the router very inexpensive. It’s one of those tools that after you build it you will find yourself using it frequently. If you find you want to build one let me know and I will be happy to walk you through it. Paul
