August 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Friday again folks! Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be checking the Pilot over this weekend for next weeks upcoming trip to "Three Weeks From Anywhere". We'll be leaving Tuesday and coming back Friday morning, so I'll be a bit late with next Fridays post. The trip is the wife's birthday present to her sister. Other than that, I've been going through boxes of "Stuff" while at the same time abusing my "One Celled Sketch-Up" as I find "Goodies" for an upcoming project. Problem is, I keep finding "Stuff" I totally forgot about having that could end up as part of the project thus the "One Celled Sketch-Up" abuse. Well, that's my weekend plans. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
August 4, 20232 yr In the shop, it's all about scrolling. Working on a golf themed clock for my sister's Christmas gift. That'll consume most of today. I'm slow. Tomorrow, we'll be supervising the replacement of our front patio roof that was seriously damaged in last Friday's wind storm. Yesterday, we played tree surgeons. Three of our three year young trees split during the storm. We clamped them and screwed them back together. Then, applied Gorilla tape bandages. Fingers crossed they survive our minisrations.
August 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Was planing on grinding some tree stumps today (rental stump grinder) but the heat has me putting that off. May be puttering in the yard this morning, Marie hasn't told me if my afternoon is occupied yet.
August 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Going back over the carpet, with the carpet cleaner, to get the stubborn dog vomit/diarrhea stains from a very sick pup. He spent 3 days in the emergency vet hospital but has turned the corner and recovering.
August 4, 20232 yr D2 trying to figure out mower issues. Starts fine but will only run to slightly above idle speed. No unusual noises. Already checked all the easy stuff. Beginning to suspect internal governor gear has disintegrated?? Family Fun Fellowship Night at church this evening. Legions of projects to choose from for remainder of the weekend, next week, next month, next year. No rest for the wicked.

Hard part was hauling the old chairs out to the curb...and moving the "new" ones into place.... Saw will need a bit of clean up, is all...looks to be a D8 Panel saw. Will know more once I get it clean and shiny haven't the foggiest what else is on the schedule as the Boss hasn't said....yet. Although, she LOVES the chairs!

Do we need to send the police over to see if you are doing something you should not be into?? Just finished my morning exercise for the knee and really getting tired of this, yes both kinds of tired. Working on some handles in shop and hope to turn some fresh Bradford Pear also today.

August 4, 20232 yr Popular Post Chairs? Dollar each? Set of 4....$4.. Has almost a Windsor feel to it.. As for the saw? 22" long saw plate, skew back...11ppi Disston medallion....readable etch (barely) has the "8" inside of the "D"....made before 1928. Price? I think I can afford that....
August 5, 20232 yr Author Popular Post Took the top, and fold up legs off of the Larkin desk. Looks like the legs will need a bit more work than I figured. The one leg had been broken and had an attempted finishing nail repair. Going to be fun trying to get that old glue cleaned up. The other leg with the missing wheel had been split, glued, and wired slightly off location. I may just set these aside for a later date, and since the desk is Arts & Crafts, or Mission Style I might just make up a replacement leg set using square stock. Now where did I see those 1 1/4" square oak balusters?
August 5, 20232 yr Popular Post It was a grueling week at work. Enough said, time for some alcoholic refreshment and then calling it a night.
August 5, 20232 yr Sweat a few donuts off but figured out the mower issue. Replaced the fuel pump since I have a few in-stock. No luck. Adjusted governor linkage, no luck With mower running, thought I could feel "compression" blowing back through the carburetor as well as fuel spray so... took awhile to get there but.... I'm no rocket surgeon but pretty sure that push rod is supposed to be under the rocker arm adjustment screw. Weird, it started great and idled perfect just no high idle. Made no weird noises. Had to quit for church event tonight. Gonna guess the pushrod is bent?? I've been needing something to do.

Been there, done that, 4D I've repaired worse, just figure it would take less time to make up another leg set. Won't be quite as fancy but I think they will complement the rest of the desk. I'll repair the original set later.
