Productive weekend in the yard, at least on Saturday. Sunday was a bit too wet for outside stuff so I piddled in the shop.

Still recovering from a busy weekend and a rough day yesterday. Woke up about 2A with full on-set of kidney stone symptoms. About a 8.0/10 pain scale. Debated going to ER; took my on hand medications for such occurances. Relented and took a pain pill about 5A plus drinking large amounts of water and xtra large heating pad. Finally dozed off about 8A. Pain pill helped, as did nausea pills. Napped off/on through mid-afternoon. No pain medications for last 18 hours. Feeling better today; just tired.

Still have the boys through Wednesday. Their baseball season starts tonight. Alternating nights for them but games every night this week. Church related meetings later week. Desperately need to mow but rain off/on through tomorrow. Have a few garden plants need to get out too.

Got a ton...well, several pounds....of  mostly walnut scraps. Most all 3/4" and, largely irregular in shape. Lots of curvy ones, Also, a smattering of mesquite, maple, and cedar. I'll be milling it all to get at least one straight side and two straight ends. Will be giving that shop made jointer sled a real work out. All to make ready for resawing. With scroll saw projects in mind, the thicknesses will be 1/8",  up through 1/2" in eighths.  Lotta planer work, too. Really gonna give my DC system a work out, as well.  Dustcollection.jpg.a64eb03bc20b3abf1fc0ad0e91a985d1.jpg

Cut the grass except where it was too wet.  Yesterday I cut some valve stems and ground them sharp to use to make more awls.

Interesting article on spoon carving, @John Morris.   I've carved a few.  I would recommend Wille Sundqvist's book that covers both spoon carving and carving techniques.  I never knew there were so many carving strokes before I read his book.

Swedish Carving Techniques

Have never carved a spoon but have turned several and used arbortec to hollow bowl. Good video. Still no power in shop, supposed to fix early in the morning

They got run over.  The riding mower wouldn't fit between the rows of them.

I think the salt trucks add those seeds to the salt in the winter. Devil strips could feed a large colony of bees.

Spent a few hours Saturday cleaning the shop, some projects I want to start. Sometimes life can keep a person quite busy.

I know it is Tuesday but like the old song say "I don't like Mondays". This week. Technically a vacation week. Still have paperwork to do. Move my daughter from Nashville back to Chattanooga Wednesday the to Louisville Ky on the 29th. Try to get time with the CNC. Oh yeah had to replace both AC/Heat units too.

On a lighter side and proud daddy moment My daughter first team All Academic for softball and third team all conference, AND I had 2 people want me to make them some coasters...

Have a good one!
