Friday March 3rd 2023-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday again folks, we survived another week. ;)

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're still recovering from last weeks ice storm.

Had to go to three places yesterday to find a sump pump for a former co-workers house that had 4-5" of water in the basement.

Don't really need anymore snow or rain at the moment, we went from being a little over 8.5" below average to about 3.5" above average in less than a month.

So today we're watching the weather to see if we get sh*t at and missed, or sh*t at and hit. :Tapping:

That's our weekend agenda, what's on yours?

A little bit of TBD.  Whatever I get into, it will be in low gear.  Back acted up Tuesday and nearly every step since then has been more like a toddler walking :(

On the plus side of that - I purposely went out yesterday and "practiced" getting into and out of the new car, and the old car.  New car is a couple inches higher, a whole lot easier to get into.  So there is that :)  I also went to Lowe's yesterday in my truck, a Nissan Frontier.  That is just high enough that I do have to climb up - not so easy.

So yeah, definitely going in low gear this weekend...

In the shop today and tomorrow since the weather isn't going to be nice.  Sunday I may get out in the yard and clean up a few sticks left on the ground after the winds we have had lately.

Feel your pain and understand the toddler walking analogy. Hope you get some relief soon. Got a heating pad against mine right now. Getting old ain't for the weak and faint of heart. Knowing what I know now, I would have done things a whole lot differently 50 years ago;) Hmm is that the heating pad I feel or are my pants really on fire like they say:Laughing:

I've been going with daughter and SIL looking at houses this week. Their rental/ lease property expires soon. It's been an interesting experience to say the least. Their agent is a young gal and fairly new to real estate sales. Apparently she asked my daughter if "her dad would be willing to go with her on all of her showings? She was learning so much":P Sure wish I could remember what I might have done or said. :WonderScratch: Have one to look at tonight at 6P. Not too far away from us.

Depending on the weather du jour will determine remainder of weekend. Plenty of sticks to choose from. Sunday, church responsibilities. No basketball games; may take a second tour of a home after church we viewed earlier this week?

Oh crap, another weekend approaches!  Likely I'll work on drawings for a reclining lounge chair project idea. An idea that persisted for several years but got forgotten.  That was until I came across the sketched iterations I'd done about it while clearing out my utility/storage room.  This idea nagged me for 3 years in college, and poked at me again a few year later when I used a computer and pen plotter to draw updated side and plan views of the chair in both laid back and upright positions.    Lithium battery packs and linear actuators that are easy to source now might make possible a previously impossible dynamic furniture design of mine.

Got the renewal notice for the Pilots license plates, has to go for emissions test before I can renew.

Just called the place I go to, they're open until noon today, closed over the weekend.

Realized I forgot my slop boots by Gabe's house when I replaced the sump pump.

Works out fine, he needs a ride to go pickup his car from the dealers shop.

Nasty weather today?   We blame it on the Indian Lake Boat Show that starts today.....

After Lunch settles through the system...have 2 more corners to make...then we'll see...

With the rain/nasty weather here in L.A. (Lower Alabama), I'll be trying out a new finishing technique,  First time working with shellac.

Took Pilot for emissions test,...It Passed.

Went to Gabe's got my slop boots and gave him a ride to go get his 2015 Cadidlieac.

He ran into a pothole and messed up a rim and tire, also took out a wheel speed sensor which triggered his ABS light.

:JawDrop: Yowza a bit shy of $1300.00.

It would be a bit tough to fit four eyeballs under my eyelids. :BugEyeSmiley:

Well just got down off the ladder fixing our garage door opener. Called one dealer out to look at it and give me an estimate, 1100.00 to replace opener parts and labor, said the motor was burned out. I've been lazy the last few weeks and just didn't want to deal with anything so I was going to pay someone to fix it. I told the guy thanks but no thanks,

Long story short, I loosened up the belt, disassembled it and ran the trolly back to the door release while the door was in down position, and I tightened it all back up again and the dang door opened. It still slammed up against the stop bolt, but at least I got it moving and the motor was not burned out obviously. A couple YouTube videos later, it came down to adjusting the open and close limits and everything is working just grand now :)

Doesn't anyone want to figure this stuff out anymore? Or do they just wanna push new installations on unsuspecting consumers?

Most importantly, yesterday was our 31st wedding anniversary, I can't believe my lovely wife let me stay around this long, she's got the patience of Job!

Here we are on our Southern CA snow day, and rare at that!

Have a most lovely weekend ya'll, and stay safe!

I've replaced the two door openers (and garage doors) in my 2-car garage since I've lived here. A bid like that tells me the dealer doesn't care for jobs like that.

My ex bought her parent's house, with a one-car garage and a classic solid wood garage door she didn't want to change out for a more modern insulated one.  When one day it came off a track (because the track came loose from the wall) she called a dealer who apparently couldn't think for himself and told her he needed to do some research and order some parts.  I had a look at it and had it fixed and back on track in 20 minutes.  Some longer stainless steel screws for the track braces, some new weather stripping (to keep out the weather that had rusted the old screws) and it cost her $50.  She was happy to pay me.
