February 28, 20233 yr got a delivery of 11 bowl blanks from Cook woods yesterday, hauled down to shop, labeled what they are, set aside for another day. no turning plans at the moment, but these were on sale, so nice to have some laying around if i get the "let's make sawdust" itch. guess it's time to put away the last of the Christmas decorations, was waiting for the snow to melt. all melted now.
February 28, 20233 yr Today's lunch time @Gunnycam. Can you find the woman's missing ring? If you can, your eyesight is Gunny level He made a handsome pay rate plus free lunch at Chick-fil-A.
March 1, 20233 yr Popular Post Had a great time yesterday meeting a few old friends and some new acquaintances at a place called The Bent Prop Saloon in the small town of Eloy AZ. There were 9 of us wood guys. Had a good lunch around a big table. Lots of reminencing and shop talk. Eloy is probably the sky diving capitol of AZ so, we were treated to some paragliding exploits. After lunch, we all caravaned over to the mesquite yard to meet with the owner and pick up some slabs and, the turners found a wealth of root balls and burls. While mesquite is the main dish, he has literally tons of Mulberry, Acacia, Pistachio, Pecan and other native species as well. A few of the group had never been there and were amazed at the offerings. Not only the variety but his prices are great, too. I.e. mesquite runs at $5 a B.F. Many of the more gnarly root balls are free! My BIL, a turner, has a load to carry back to IL. So, yesterday was a great day.
March 2, 20233 yr Played pool at with my son at his house yesterday evening and a good friend of ours joined us. Little rusty first couple of games but did well for not having played for awhile. Should clean my table off and shoot some now and again.
March 2, 20233 yr Popular Post survived going up on the roof to fix a loose chimney cap. noticed a hole in the roof under the tv dish. frame is somewhat attached to the roof (painted silver finish), so didn't try to move it. will make sure i show to the roof guy when they do their annual service this spring. looks like some critter (mouse) has been chewing. mouse must die!
