December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Looks like we made it to another Friday folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be trying to do as little as I can get away with, so will see out how that goes. Spent most of the past week working on vehicles outside in the cold, and need a little thaw out time. Just looked at the weather forecast and it looks like today will be the last time we make it to 30° for what looks like the rest of December. I hope Bruce isn't in a real hurry to change out the transmission in that 2018 Ram ProMaster after we go pull the one he found. I'm sure glad Scott will let us do it inside his heated shop on Monday. The forecast calls for a high of 27° on Monday, and it's downhill from there. That's my weekend agenda, which leads to the question,... What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post This morning I'm waiting on an appliance repairman, er, tech, to show up and try to fix our icemaker (again). This will be the 5th or 6th trip in the last 2 years. I almost never buy extended warranties, but in this case I did so it's on Lowe's dime. But the terms are they can refund my money if the defect can't be fixed...so today will start that process (maybe) as well.
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Until we moved into this house, where all the appliances remained, we never had a refrigerator/freezer with a decently reliable ice maker. But this one is great. It's a Kenmore side by side where the ice or water is dispensed from a chute in the freezer door. In the summer, it gets lots of use. We both use 24(?)oz. thermoses and refill about 3 times a day. The icemaker keeps up nicely. IDK how old it is. Probably 5 or 6 years old. I hate to think about having to replace it.
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post We've had a front move through. Will be chilly with a hard freeze tomorrow. May get some shop time Sunday afternoon. My youngest niece will be committing matrimony on Saturday and we will be attending the ceremony. She is a doctor now just starting her residency. Mouse was always my favorite! .40
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Larry, thanks for keeping on the Friday topics, being two weeks from anywhere, I know it's hard to keep up with the world! I got a question for ya, do you have any time anymore for the wonderful things you love to do such as OWWM restorations etc? I see you staying pretty busy helping out friends and neighbors which is completely awesome, I was just concerned you aren't getting enough "ME" fun time in.
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Finishing up the candy bowls today in preparation for the party this weekend. So this weekend is party time.
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Now that all the base boards are cut, painted and installed, I've been told that this weekend is MINE! So, it's time to clean all the white plastic dust from the cutting operations. The CMS and it's bench looks like it's been in a snow storm. That stuff clings to every thing. Then, a couple shop cabinets need wheels...Go Harbor Freight. Might find time to finally get some practice in with the scroll saw. That's TBD later.

As we empty out one of Bruce's storage units I'll be able to get at the stockpile of OWWM he let me keep there. We're almost there I think. It kind of got buried during the Spring "Curb Shopping" season, almost got unburied in the Summer, then the Fall "Curb Shopping" season hit. Oh heck, I've had a ball figuring out setting up diagnostic systems, and then figuring out how to use them. ... ... ... ... ... Even after all the involved I've still got my hair, and the satisfaction of not letting those things beat me. Besides that...
December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Got Christmas done and decided to give something to all in our closed loop neighborhood . So made 23 snowman ornaments. In process of painting now. Other gifts to deliver next week now and to mail couple today. At the knee doctor right now to see when we do the fix for it.
December 16, 20223 yr Author Popular Post Monday might be more fun than I thought. Bruce said he talked to Scott and he told him I told him that it would probably take 2-3 hrs. Scott told him "I'll believe that when I see it, and that he needs to save the front clip for another customer. I'd like to know how he plans to do that." Bruce told him when I ask all he does is grin, and say you'll see. I told Bruce I hadn't planned on pulling the front clip, don't need to. Now he's really stumped.

December 16, 20223 yr Popular Post Wife is on a cleaning binge so doing as I'm told. Last night, dealer called at 6:40P to say the Buick is all done. I said great, I'll pick it up in the morning on the way to get my granddaughter since I have to drive right by on the way. 6:50P, phone rings...dealer again, uhh, guess it's not done...need to have front end alignment checked and get steering wheel centered. Whew, long & busy day so far. Right now sitting in my chair with heat pad warming my lower back. Oldest granddaughter had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at 8A. She's staying at daughter/SILs for a couple days. Then, left this about 10:30 to drive cross state to pickup youngest granddaughter for her Christmas break. Her last final ended at 12:30P. Stopped at dealer about 11A; Buick is down the street at alignment shop...you can pick it up later this afternoon. OK, I'll be back this way by 4P. Return trip I had granddaughter drive. She needs the experience. After a late lunch at Bob Evans, we experienced snow, sleet, freezing rain including a few miles of near white out conditions. She did great. Stopped at the dealer....and are you ready for this? After 131 days, the Buick is again sitting in my drive. So far, so good. Tomorrow, afternoon luncheon for church deacons and wives. Sunday, church responsibilities. In between, cleaning will be involved. Probably should check my list. Getting close to start Christmas shopping.
December 17, 20223 yr Popular Post The workweek is over, cue second workweek shoved into a weekend On the list is more storage/organization stuff for the tool wall, a trip the the lumber yard, maybe drop by the local Woodcraft for a protractor, errands, meal planning, cleaning the garage, chores, and lots of random adulting.

December 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Since shows season has wound down for the year, we actually had time for dinner with friends last night. it's always great to get out relax and support our Elks Lodge. which brings us to today. It'll be back to the lodge for pizza and bowling with more camping friends to celebrate our "non camping season Birthdays" (ok it might also be an excuse to get together celebrate all things good in life, how far we've come with recovering from a not-so-great year, and maybe indulge in some day drinking.) tomorrow I will spend in the workshop finishing 2 special order breadboards, and do some final sanding on any number of items only half done for next years shows.
December 17, 20223 yr Popular Post Last night we overnight sat two grandkids -- one had a piano recital, the other went out on a concert for a senior living center. Mom, Dad, and their third one went to Chicago for a gymnastics meet. Today was set building for Legally Blonde Jr. I did a material run and got 50 pieces of wood to make 20 newel posts, plus a couple of other things. We made two more sets of stairs (of seven needed). Last build until January. Yesterday, I got a coat of shellac and a coat of varnish on 4 end tables for the furniture bank and an organ bench for a granddaughter who's too short to reach the pedals.
December 18, 20223 yr Popular Post Had to do a run to Lima, OH...today.....got tired of waiting around for a NEW cable box...so, went up to their store, and turned the old one in...turns out, they NEVER shipped the new one...simple matter of scan the old box, and hand over a new box.....other than the 38 miles each way...plus supper at Captain D's..and a stop at Hobby Lobby, of course.... No shop time, today....too tired from driving. Hobby Lobby was PACKED! ALL of their checkouts were full, and the parking lot! Having a snow flurry going on outside...27 degrees is about 40 degrees too COLD for this old body.
December 18, 20223 yr Popular Post I got highly motivated today, did some shopping for wood for upcoming projects, dropped by home depot and picked up some 2x4’s and “cheap” plywood for a lumber rack. Moved all the wood in my shop, built a lumber rack, moved all the wood in my shop to said lumber rack and had a well deserved cup of coffee. Got some more progress on the tool wall as well, saw till and chisel rack are pretty much done. Still need to do a plane till and figure out something for bits and brace. Will probably do a set of cabinets under the tool wall with a bunch of drawers and some bulk storage, still thinking how I want to organize all of that. Tomorrow, I need to build some utility shelving to start making sense of a lot of the bulk type items I have stashed around. After that a clamp rack by the assembly / outfeed table seems like a good move so I will get that done as well.
