On "logical" Friday (Wednesday), helped a friend route 1/4" x 2" slots in the top of small shadow boxes for his wife's preschool Advent thing.  The kids are going to drop in stars.  MDF core so lots of dust.   Then we got the new planer unpacked just in time to see Rockler put it on sale with a stand for just $20 more.

On "physical" Friday, we drove across the state to be with a daughter's family for the weekend.

On Saturday, watched a disappointing football game. :(

Forgot to say it was 125 boxes.

So I sold a bunch of old lock sets and hinges to a guy this week and decided to treat myself to some old tools

-A nine piece set of Cleveland Twist Bits 1/16-3/8 that look like they were only lightly used

-A Millers Falls Spoke Shave

-A Starrett 6" #20  Square

My Bow 'FeatherDUO' came in today that I will have to torture test tomorrow

And  I hit a late Black Friday sale today for my annual new set of bits. This year I bought a set with a hex base bits to go in my Impact Driver. I saw a video a while back that said I no longer need a drill with these bits. More things to torture test.

So I had met a woman, online, who had always wanted to go metal detecting. She lives in Ogunquit Maine, which is where 1 of the beaches I like to detect on is. I had let her know I was gonna be on the beach from roughly 5:30 am to 8:00 am. She usually goes there for sunrise on weekends. She caught up to me there, and we talked. She told me about another woman named Amanda who usually get’s there about 90 m inures before sunrise and makes prayer circles. I had actually seen her there before, and had also seen the prayer circles too. The recent storms/wave activity had pushed a LOT of sand in on the beach, I found NOTHING, not even a pulltab. (Kinda sounds like the beginning of a Christmas tale). Also was a cold wind blowing. Cold and finding things I can handle easily, cold and finding nothing…..well it didn’t take me long to convince myself to make the trip home. These pictures were taken by Michelle, the woman who wants me to bring my spare detector and let her try it, some time this spring/summer. In the one with the prayer circle, I am in the left side back ground. So maybe not a success find wise, it was a GLORIOUS sunrise.

Got back from Thanksgiving at my brother’s place today.  Was nice to see him and his family.  My parents came down too so it was a pretty fun gathering.

Good to catch up with everyone.  Spent some time in the shop today sharpening things and getting ready for my next joinery project.

Last but certainly not least, the Veritas router plane I ordered showed up.  What a wonderful tool and since Stanley no. 71’s appear to be made of unobtainium and pure gold, quite reasonable :)

The fit and finish is impeccable and it is well thought out. I used it to clean up the bottoms of the split top insert on my workbench and it performed admirably.  I can see this getting a lot of use.

Mmm, new stuff - a tool review is requested required after you've tried it out. ;)

:ChinScratch: Turns out the rear channels on that RDS AM/FM/Cassette/CD radio work after all, the rear speakers were blown out. Fronts kind of rattle also. <_<

:ChinScratch: Probably due to that aftermarket radio that didn't work anyway.

:throbbinghead:

Needed an excuse for a boneyard run anyway. :Tapping:

Forgot to mention, my favorite pull your own parts boneyard has Sunday hours! ;)

Got enough left overs to keep us in ham and cheese as well as turkey and bacon sandwiches for several days.

I'll have to try that, I never thought about putting turkey on my bacon sandwiches.

I need to check back in on this with a big ol' tip o' the hat to Gene. I put turkey on my bacon sandwich last night and it was fantastic! Now I realize most of you don't live in a cave like I do and were aware of this, so let me wallow in my new discovery! Here's to you, Gene. :Praise:

So, do you replace the bacon for turkey? Or do you combine the both? Thanks!

John, It's just a BLT with turkey meat added. Don't forget the Mayo.

Follow me for more recipes. I make a mean PB&J Sandwich .

Yeah, my bacon sandwiches come with a good dollop of mayo and lettuce. Would have used a tomato as well if I had some on hand. I prefer the bread toasted.

I opted for hot dogs last night.  Added a nice dollop of chili I got at Jay's Hot Dog Shop.

Heard a loud noise like someone ran into the garage.  Turned out one of the extension springs broke.  Guess what I'm doing today.

:ChinScratch:Is that where this tunnel leads?

I had to deal with one of my least favorite jobs today, replace one of those Euro Hinges on a kitchen cabinet.

I have tried for years to find one that matches the existing ones. The spares I have now I need to add a 3/4 x 5/8" strip of hardwood to the inside of the frame to match the placement of the door and I only have 2 left and I don't remember where I bought these 5 years ago.

It did give me a chance to try out the Hex Drive bits in my Impact Driver. Guess it went ok, there's a lot of play in the chuck so you have to use more care when starting to drill.

That and I have 3 cordless drills that clamp very well on the hex base, I think I'll just keep the Impact Driver just for screws.
One good thing the bits are easier to find when you set them down, even the 1/16. Of course if you use them in a drill you don't have to set them down to drive a screw.

One other thing you lose the ability to use the case as an index for sizing screws for pre drilling.
