Friday November 11th 2022-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:D Friday again folks!

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I spent the past week helping my neighbor Bruce get some body work done on his 05 Express van, and his wifes 02 Blazer. I'm glad to say we beat the forecast 50° drop in temperature headed our way this weekend.

Bruce's 05 Express went from this,

Too this!

And his wife's Blazer went from rusted out quarter panels, rocker sills, and lower front fenders that I forgot to get a before picture of to replacing all of the rusted out sections with factory, and home-made patch panels.

A few closer looks at the repairs.

Passengers side quarter panel. Glad the rust didn't go above that body line.

Inner rear wheel well.

Passengers side lower front fender. The drivers side was worse, the front lip was totally gone.

The inner bracing was also gone.

And a look at the rocker sills. Since Bruce is only interested in preserving the vehicle we'll be using seam sealer along the seams. He's like "Who the @%*@! going to see it.  Works for me!

Still have a bit of future work to do, such as the few rust spots in the above photo replacing the rusted out rear bumper, etc..

We did manage to get it in paint just before dark.

Bruce is using Rust-Oleum Automotive White spray cans which is actually a pretty close match once blended/buffed in. We need to give the paint some time to cure before blending it in. That will wait until we do the rear bumper in a few days.

:ChinScratch: Now it looks more like a vehicle with only 62K on the odometer!

As to what I'll be doing this weekend? :WonderScratch:

I'm pooped, I'm taking a break. :P

:ChinScratch: So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

That was some good body work going there Larry.  Take that break, you deserve it!

As for me, I haven't been able to get back on the dresser.  My sister & BIL have been staying with us since the first of October waiting for their new house to be completed.  That was done and closing was a couple weeks ago - but all of their belongings was stuck in Florida.  That stuff finally came in on Wednesday so we spent that day helping them log boxes in and lend the occasional hand - more of that to come at some point in the future.

Yesterday it started raining!  Something I've not seen here in literally months!  Supposed to continue throughout most of the day today.

Tomorrow I am scheduled to help SIL move!  What the heck, how did I get roped into all this moving all of a sudden?

One thing is certain, tomorrow evening I will be watching UGA bulldawgs take on the bulldogs of Mississippi State!  Go Dawgs!!!

The replacement hoist and parts for the crane arrived earlier this week.  Going to see if I can get that project back on track.  Need to find someone to help but I think that may be doable.  I also need to get those logs processed into blanks.

Next time I need to make an egg on the lathe, I'm using a dang gouge. :BangingHead:

Once my coffee is consumed and the Flag is raised over the 1949, Sands of Iwo Jimo (John Wayne) is over, I'm headed outside to finish final yard mowing + leaf mulching for 2022 season, then clean up, grease and store mower. No shop work in the future with temperatures dropping into the 30's.

Tomorrow, youngest granddaughter has a swim meet; still waiting to see if it will be live-streamed. SIL, daughter and grandsons head to the "Big House" for B10 game of the week. I'll watch on TV; they said they'll wave at us:P.

Sunday, church responsibilities followed by our annual Thanksgiving meal. We set-up the Fellowship Hall Wednesday and yesterday. Always a nice time with plenty of great food. No donuts though but plenty of pies.;)

Oh, did I mention yet today is the day the Buick was promised to be done? Well at least that was what the owner of the dealers repair facility committed to a week ago this past Wednesday...he's had it over a month now...conversations with him and the dealer became quite spirited. I suppose it was my red face that gave away my patience has expired and my promise to begin formal complaints with IAG, BBB and IADA is genuine. Only been 13 weeks on Saturday. Perhaps I'm being unrealistic...this is only the Information Age and 21st Century...we still haven't successfully put a monkey on Mars yet...no offense intended toward the monkeys.

Nursing my cold, very bad cold, above all we are heading out to our local Veterans event, a city park where the flags are displayed, and the events are held. Our oldest daughter is the event coordinator for the city among other jobs, and she coordinated the entire event, very proud of her!

Be safe ya'll, and have a wonderful Friday and weekend ahead! :)

Thanks Cal,

Probably been 20-25 years since I did any body work this extensive.

I think my hands are still vibrating from the finish sander.

Have a couple of OOPs I need to let heal for a couple of days.

It must have taken the long way, I've been dealing with it for 2 weeks now. :(

Hope you guys get to feeling better. Try about two fingers of heated Irish whisky and honey. Helps the throat feel better and breaks up that chest congestion. Might take a few doses, though. ;) It's palliative rather than curative. But, you won't care, after awhile.

Veteran's day services today in town. I'm unable to get there for the ceremonies but at least it is being broadcast on the local TV channel so I'll be watching there. Hate this slow recovery from the stroke.

Last night made a material run for the next theater set, Legally Blonde.   Got done 45 minutes after the Menards closed.  Started at 6 pm and finished unloading at the shop at 10:30.  $1600 of stuff but they were out of 1/4" luaun ply and 2x12 14 footers.

Saturday is Woodworking Club meeting, then on to  the theater shop.

Doing the Harvest Fest at the Ag this week. Had a good day today and tomorrow probably even better. Now to think about making for next sales event plus gifts. Wife is doing some better but still hurts from her surgery. Hope to have lab results in couple weeks and I think she will feel better then.

Good to hear she's doing better. Continued prayers for a smooth and rapid recovery and even more so for positive lab results.

I’m going to try to rest. Last few weeks have been hectic. Hope to get out in the shop. Been playing with my router. This is my third try on a badly warped pecan board.
