October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Friday again folks! Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're not sure if we should open the windows, or run the furnace. Been in the 40's most of this week after a week of above normal temperatures, today through Monday is forecast to be in the 70's. I'll be spending that time cutting up some firewood I haven't got to yet. So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post I’m a glutton for punishment. Headed to the Notre Dame vs. UNLV game. Fingers crossed.

October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Would like to mow and mulch leaves but the wind is already roaring with gusts expected above 35 mph later. Same predicted over the weekend. Some errands to run later today, then stop by and visit my step-father for a while. Church responsibilities Sunday. Not sure what other what else I'll get into.
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post AAA Cooper called and said they expect to deliver my bandsaw between 11-4 today. I put out the call to gather some troops to help with moving a #400 crate from the driveway back to the shop. Expect to spend some time getting that unboxed and tuned up this weekend. Met a fellow woodturner at a craft fair last Sunday. He had some of his work on display. We plan to meet up this Sunday to visit and tour our respective shops. Really looking forward to that. Hopefully we can work together to feed our hungry lathes. He has a truck and I have a chainsaw! I've finished the outside of the Mahogany chip and dip bowl. If there is time, I'd like to get that hollowed out this weekend as well. .40
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Wife has PT today, right around noon, so the day is kinda not available to me for much. But somewhere in the next few days I need to get what I think will be the final mowing in, as well as some other yard/garden tasks. Just as well I can't do it today, way to windy.
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Looking forward to first resin pour, probably blue, in that void in the mesquite table top. Then, some walnut planing and, prepare for the next Limbert table leg assembly. If time allows, start stripping the next mesquite round. Saturday, we'll continue work on the table top that gets resin poured, today. Some buffing of the cured resin and, a second pour of clear, this time, to cover the entire table top. That coat will be brushed on. After it cures, it can be attached to the Limbert legs and, that one is done!
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Lumber and hardware run, this morning.....will see what happens after that... Stay tuned
October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Spent yesterday (Thursday) on the road to Pittsburgh and back with a 20 minute turnaround (3+hours each way). Did stop by the Flight 93 memorial. It was quite windy and hoped to hear the Tower of Voices chimes but they were working on the chimes. Beautiful drive home thru the mountains as the leaves are in their fall splendor peak this week. October 21, 20223 yr Popular Post Saturday 11am - 2pm it'll be 59˚ to 62˚ with 3-5mph breezes. I'll try vending one more time. Going to begin working on another block of parquet and again lay out a 26.5" x 50" sunshade panel. Look at grain-matching or randomness-matching possibilities. Sunday may visit an old timer guitar player. He's had issues with his chemo and shingles. Wants to record a few more songs before his last chorus. Here's a little music and a little craftwork:
October 22, 20223 yr Popular Post The not insignificant task of moving a #400 bandsaw and un-crating, gross assembly, and standing the saw up has been accomplished thanks to my nephews Zack and Henry. I appreciate them so much. Always willing to help. Will start setting up the rest tomorrow. .40 Edited October 22, 20223 yr by forty_caliber

October 22, 20223 yr after 2 hours of working at the pistol range, general clean up and such, sat down to have pizza for lunch, took my last bite, and my front tooth broke. (insert sad smile). i broke it when i was a kid about 47 years ago, so i'll call the dentist monday and see if he can see me and get it fixed. only need about a 20 year repair this time. doesn't hurt, just looks funny.
October 22, 20223 yr Popular Post Got the bandsaw setup. Took my time and followed the Snodgrass method. Cutting square and plumb. Installed a 3/8" silicon steel TimberWolf for green wood. Works like a champ. Two coats of carnauba wax on the table. Also setup a Carter circle jig but haven't tried it out yet. .40
