September 24, 20223 yr Popular Post Busy week as always at work. Had a technician take Wednesday through Friday off to attend a funeral out of state so we were shorthanded some. They hired a new guy to the general line. This is going well, but he has some catching up to do in the repair side of the industry. Previously he did custom engine work and such. Not the same as general repair side. Managed to get 6 of 9 drawers mounted and moved into this week. Started on the last 3 and should be into the finishing room this weekend. I feel the need for oh, 2 years vacation. Paid even.. I know, keep dreaming....

Oatey Plastic Test Plugs - used for testing sanitary lines under construction during inspection. Inspector wants to see new pipe empty, then filled with water, and holding the water. And if you have to cable / rod out a sewer, and the brass clean-out cover has to be blasted into the next world with your 22 oz. straight-claw Estwing in order to get access, that test plug will work in a pinch in place of the now-missing clean-out plug. A service plumber can use them.
September 24, 20223 yr Popular Post Great times at the park today. Sold seven items in three hours. Made many friends. Should have shot video. Lots of folks set up. Bluegrass quad doing their thing about 30 feet away. All of the newer "good stuff" except the new lil'bench and two trays were sold. #3 went to a gal whose grandfather and grandmother and mother, they all could look at any piece of wood and know what kind it was. So this gal was really excited to have a tray she likes, and a new story to share with mom and grandmom. She also purchased a block (polished to 12,000 grit, then wax applied) and I gave her its grain-matched cousin.

System has to hold 10 PSI for 30 minutes.

RE: Grizzly PRO T31635 - 12" Double-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw I've been wanting more cut, thin 5" or 5.5" sq crosscuts from old beams, and located your Nothing Lasts Forever thread. On that Grizzly, there is a center support for the assembly. Does that limit you to a 4" depth? Thanks,
September 24, 20223 yr Popular Post Woodman I ended up blowing the wad I made off that teak work and bought the Festool. I will keep you posted on how I like it. I got 30 days to return it. So far the dust collection is as stated. Almost no dust. So far the downer is all the plastic. For the money I expected aluminum knurled knobs etc. Paul Edited September 24, 20223 yr by Masonsailor

September 25, 20223 yr Popular Post Ventured out yesterday for first time in two weeks. Had to pick up title for Buick. Found out it's at the GM dealer in our county seat, 12 miles away. Been there since last Tuesday. So far they can't figure it out either. Apparently discussion about replacing the engine with a GM crate engine at GMs expense. IDK? To be continued... Ran a couple errands after...by evening, I regressed in my COVID recovery. Stayed home today. Feeling a bit better, but no appetite or much energy. Need to unload bird seed yet and fill feeders right after my lunch of cinnamon toast + applesauce.
September 26, 20223 yr Take it slow Dave. This is an ugly one. The worst possible effect from Covid for me is it changed my sense of smell and taste. Which means my morning coffee doesn’t smell or taste right. This a cruel virus. Paul

It looks like the Festool 575306 Kapex KS 120 REB will cut 4-5/8" (120 mm) vertically against the stop. Variable speed? Nice option. I built a little deck for longer boards, 4.25" high, for my Delta miter saw. Turns out my 2x4 'bench' is uneven. Next time I find a pile of 2x4s, my plan is to run them through the table saw, square them up completely. First.

It might have been a really old mildewed piece of poplar with critter eggs within . . . A piece of this old poplar joist (on the left) ended up in the basement, and about a week later, the critter troubles. They are wiped out now, though. Borax is deathly deadly to them.

Agree unusual symptoms, some seem to linger much longer than good old fashioned flu. I had the same issue with smell and taste. Everything tasted the same, bad. I had to give up the morning coffee for a few days as a result. Still trying to shake the cough which oddly worsened after most other symptoms improved. Fatigue continues although my O2 levels remain in the 90's. IDK?
