March 19, 20224 yr Popular Post I have decided to start transitioning from my Supernova2 chucks to the Easy wood tools chuck. Not an easy decision for me as I'm pretty invested in the Supernovas and have been for years. Over the years I have accumulated four of them as well as several sets of jaws. I plan to sell up a couple of them to help offset the cost of switching but in the long run it will be more than worth it to me. New chuck arrived this morning but it will be a few days before I get a chance to try it out. Still pretty excited about it though and I really, really, like what it says on the lid at the bottom!
March 19, 20224 yr Popular Post I knwo if I ever get serious about turning, I'll replace my Talon chuck with that one.....I love the features it has.
March 19, 20224 yr Popular Post What influenced you to go this route? The jaw interchange is nice but once you have enough chucks you don't need to change jaws. I prefer a Tommy Bar style chuck. With an easy to operate spindle lock it is great especially when doing multiples and I do that a lot. I have other brands but the Nova precision mini chuck is my favorite.
March 19, 20224 yr Popular Post You will never regret the decision! When you think about it, you probably had more invested in all those other chucks than the price of this one. No more screws to remove/replace/drop/find for jaw changes. @Jim from Easy Wood Tools will be proud!!
March 19, 20224 yr Popular Post Awesome chuck, I love mine! By the way, thanks for the tags @Steve Krumanaker.

I have other brands but the Nova precision mini chuck is my favorite. Many factors Dan. For starters, even when I bought my first Supernova2 I felt there are better Chucks out there. Namely, Oneway and/or Vicmarc and I always figured I'd invest in one of those someday. Then, along came the EWT chuck and I started to consider one of those. The fact that it's made in America had a lot to do with me deciding the way I did. You are right about having enough chucks to not have to change jaws and I do. That's great when I'm in my shop. However, I'm getting lots of requests to do club demos again and carrying the tools to do a demo is a big deal. Many times I've taken two or even three chucks with me when demoing. It will be much easier to just carry one chuck and a couple sets of jaws. I know what you mean about locking the spindle and using your tommy bar, I've done the same thing with my cheapo penn state chuck. The EWT chuck has the "zoom" ring built in which allows the same method but eliminates the need for a tommy bar. That's a great feature all by itself. And of course there is the "gee whiz" factor. The snap in jaws are an innovation that open a host of possibilities for some ideas that I have. Last but not least of course, It's a tool I didn't have. I have to admit, and my wife will confirm it, too often that's reason enough for me.

The snap in jaws are really nice, you can switch those jaws out in no time. And the zoom ring, yes!
March 19, 20224 yr Thanks @Steve Krumanaker. Some very valid points. Look forward to the use assessment.
