Assembled 9 of them by 11:30 (including a donut break). I repaired 8 pieces -- some broken off sofa legs, a desk that had fallen apart, drawers that fell apart, and assembled one flat pack nightstand. A lot sturdier build than IKEA stuff, but took a long time to glue up joints, put in pocket hole screws, assemble a drawer, etc. I got out about 1 and a guy that works alone was going to knock off a bunch of end tables in the afternoon. We are critically low on furniture and especially tables right now, but our woodworkers made a few tables in our woodshop to save the day! These tables will be delivered this week! 18 smaller tables assembled in the afternoon. Edited February 2, 20224 yr by kmealy
February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Worked on a small shop project this afternoon. Using some of that wonderful 9-17 layer Chinese Plywood (depending on where you count). Air channels for moisture evaporation included. Also notice the wonderfully thin surface veneers.

February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post I really thought I had taken a few pics along as I was working on this shadow box, but they are not to be found But I can show the finished product off. This is sized to hold a sweater that our daughter had (knitted?) some few years ago. She really liked it, but when it shrunk to no longer fit she purposely shrunk it until it stopped so that it could be displayed. The wood is red oak from our yard, outer dimensions are 24" x 24". Last summer @Gerald made me an offer on a ts box joint blade set I couldn't refuse. This is the second project using these blades. Really nice once dialed in. Finish is Watco and a few coats of wipe on satin poly. Right now it has dirty glass and a black auto headliner fabric over cork on 1/4" ply for the back. Daughter may want a different color fabric, that will just be put over the headliner using spray contact adhesive if she does. I will take a couple other pics when it is taken apart for the sweater. A nice day is forecast for today. I bought a receiver hitch off marketplace to put on truck #2. Installing that is part of my day along with a bunch of other stuff...
February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post @Cal.... Nicely done. Box joints look great and are perfect enhancements for the shadow box, IMO.
February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post Good joints and overall great craftsmanship. Looking forward to a picture after sweater is installed.
February 2, 20224 yr Popular Post @Cal Glad to see you are enjoying the blade. I would not have bought it but you know how it is at an estate sale thinking that is too good to bypass. Nice shadow box you have done good.

Mine are not as neat as the demos, but it is nice not to have to dig for some of the tools in drawers. Very useful for plane storage in drawers.
February 4, 20224 yr Author Popular Post If you watch some of his "Lean" videos, you'll see, not only extreme OCD but, his hyperactivity as well. The guy is a study in focused, goal directed methodology. I use their Kaizen foam in French fitting fire arms in display boxes. Covered in velvet, it makes a nice presentation. But, I'm a slob. My hand tools don't receive the same attention. They're lucky to have a drawer! Edited February 4, 20224 yr by Gene Howe
