Phantasmagorical, Paul. There now, with that adjective, your work nearly exhausted my supply of superlatives. Nevertheless, that turning shore is purdy.

May I ask what it is? :o

Most of the time people put dried flower arrangements in them. If it gets here in time this one will come with a glass rose.

That will be awesome! But, your vase will steal the show.

Finished up a couple presents for the neighbors today. Customized coasters. And the rose arrived so that gift is ready. I would like to cut the stem shorter but I don’t think that’s possible.

Is the rose glass Paul. If so, one of THESE might do it?

BTW, the rose makes the vase stand out even more. Coasters are cool too.

I’m thinking my dremel tool and a cut off disc.

Great minds think a like:P . I've had good success with those H-F in my Dremel working/ cutting glass although nothing as delicate as that rose.

It’s for my prom date so she will understand. I think hmmm

Mighty fine coasters. How'd you do the lettering? CNC? Also, why the holes? Just curious.

Edited by Gene Howe

I guess this is a dumb question, why didn't you make the rose also. It could all be made of wood.

Gene my guess on the holes. Maybe he has been around a few folks that can't set their drinks down without tipping them over.

Yes I did the entire project with the Shaper Origin. Even the bases. The ones with the holes are supposed to be a clock with the hands set at 0810. My neighbors last name is pronounced the same as 8:10 so whenever I make them a gift I incorporate that into it.

Smallpatch I thought about a wooden rose but I wanted this present to be very special. The stem is actually gold plated as well as the tips of the petals. It is for my longest and dearest friend from high school. She actually was my prom date. Oh and she is also my wife’s best friend !

Okay, I see.  My advise is you better tread lightly!

The rose was my wife’s idea. We try to come up with something special for our friend every year. The problem is turnings are coming to an end for her. She has about 40 years of turnings and boxes etc from me and her house is starting to look like a gift shop. I’ll have to come up with new ideas.
