December 15, 20214 yr Popular Post comment_278115 Phantasmagorical, Paul. There now, with that adjective, your work nearly exhausted my supply of superlatives. Nevertheless, that turning shore is purdy. Report
December 15, 20214 yr Popular Post comment_278117 That is a splendid turning Paul May I ask what it is? Report
December 15, 20214 yr Author Popular Post comment_278131 Most of the time people put dried flower arrangements in them. If it gets here in time this one will come with a glass rose. Paul Report
December 15, 20214 yr Popular Post comment_278136 That will be awesome! But, your vase will steal the show. Edited December 15, 20214 yr by Gene Howe Report
December 17, 20214 yr Author Popular Post comment_278260 Finished up a couple presents for the neighbors today. Customized coasters. And the rose arrived so that gift is ready. I would like to cut the stem shorter but I don’t think that’s possible. Paul Report

December 17, 20214 yr comment_278275 Mighty fine coasters. How'd you do the lettering? CNC? Also, why the holes? Just curious. Edited December 17, 20214 yr by Gene Howe Report
December 17, 20214 yr comment_278317 I guess this is a dumb question, why didn't you make the rose also. It could all be made of wood. Gene my guess on the holes. Maybe he has been around a few folks that can't set their drinks down without tipping them over. ! Report
December 17, 20214 yr Author Popular Post comment_278318 Yes I did the entire project with the Shaper Origin. Even the bases. The ones with the holes are supposed to be a clock with the hands set at 0810. My neighbors last name is pronounced the same as 8:10 so whenever I make them a gift I incorporate that into it. December 17, 20214 yr Author Popular Post comment_278319 Smallpatch I thought about a wooden rose but I wanted this present to be very special. The stem is actually gold plated as well as the tips of the petals. It is for my longest and dearest friend from high school. She actually was my prom date. Oh and she is also my wife’s best friend ! December 17, 20214 yr Popular Post comment_278332 Okay, I see. My advise is you better tread lightly! Report
December 17, 20214 yr Author Popular Post comment_278339 The rose was my wife’s idea. We try to come up with something special for our friend every year. The problem is turnings are coming to an end for her. She has about 40 years of turnings and boxes etc from me and her house is starting to look like a gift shop. I’ll have to come up with new ideas.
