November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post What did I get done over the weekend? Not much. We did decide on which new sofa and picked up a new recliner, will go into town this morning to order the sofa. They tell me it is in the warehouse so we may get it this week. Watched the UGA vs GT game, if you want to call it a game. Watched some of the OSU vs UM game, that was tough to watch... and to cap it off, I watched most of the AL vs Auburn game. I actually thought Auburn was going to pull it off. Gosh, doesn't Auburn have more than two quarterbacks? Got one with a broken ankle, and one that can't walk... which one do we put in the game? Still applying, or trying to apply finish to the entertainment center. That thing is fighting me every step of the way. The week ahead is pretty busy. More finish to the EC. Headed to town to order the couch later this morning and run a few errands. Hopefully everyone is either back at work or at their computers taking advantage of Cyber Monday to clog the roads Also this week, mow the lawn - get the leaves up; head to Macon to check out a truck that is at auction, get a haircut, do some Christmas shopping, pick up the sofa if it comes in. And oh yeah, apply a few more coats of finish to the entertainment center. Supposed to be real nice weather this week, may find a few more outside chores to do just to enjoy it.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Mrs. Boss and I are on VACATION this week. I've got some errands to run today. Steve the gunsmith is holding a sweet little Kimber K6 3" .357 for me. I'm going to go and have a look at it. Thinking it might replace my Kimber 1911 Custom as my EDC. May go into Austin this afternoon and do some shopping. Not sure about the rest of the week, will see how it goes. .40
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Gunny, you had more fun making yours. Mine are just those plastic shoe holders from Wally. Two of them hold all my caulk, spray cans, glue bottles, etc. They'd work for Scotch too but, that's best savored AFTER shop time. Now that the FrankenSmith is operational, it's time for more shop organization. I think the shop floor is concrete. More info is needed, though. Edited November 29, 20214 yr by Gene Howe

The 2 inch PVC pipe I used came from a box of cut offs I found in a van I cleaned out one weekend. That meant all I had to do was make a box. But not a @steven newman style box. Went basic and used screws.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Back to the theater shop 3 evenings this week to sort thru the set pieces. Trash what cannot be saved, disassemble and put away what can. We got an older Delta contractor's saw donated and I'll need to reassemble it, don't know if I'll be able to break away this week or will need to wait. The side support wings need to be remade, so once the rails get back on, I can do that.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Well let's see, Saturday went with neighbor to get his wifes 2002 Blazer because it wouldn't start. Luckily we took the van with the tow-bar. When he asked if it would turn over, all she would answer is two different people tried jump starting it without success. When we got to it, it cranked over no problem. Looks like it will need a fuel pump. Of course the tanks almost full. Checked RockAuto and it looks like we'll have to pull the old pump before we can order a replacement. They list 4, or 5 different pumps depending upon steel or plastic gas tank, and if it has a certain module or not. Thinking we may just do like with his vans, and cut an access hole through the floor.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Got a little shop time on Saturday. Made some headway on a batch of rolling pin holders. Yesterday, put the last of the deck furniture away along with assorted yard decorations. Mimi has therapy this week and I have an EWT demo in State College (home of Penn State) on Wednesday.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Monday? MONDAY? Yuck. Got off to a roaring bad start, 0530 wake up call from SIR Charles...shop is closed, today. I somehow managed to get a little box building done, over the past weekend.... Too bloody cold outside....about 40 degrees too cold. Can I just go and hibernate til Spring arrives...

November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Building stock this week and finishing a community project at the library.
November 29, 20214 yr Popular Post I've posted so much about organizing that I'm getting emails from the UAW, AFL/CIO, IBEW NEA and, the AFT. Not to mention a call from the FBI and, I know the NSA is listening to my phone calls. So, I'm no longer organizing. Now I'm de cluttering.

This was before most people had ever heard of it. It would have fit very well with my academic interests and experience. It was using theoretical math to develop software for ciphering and deciphering encoded messages. Problem was it would have taken about 9 months before they could give me a nay or yeah. some of which was getting top security clearance. I was about to get married, graduate 3 months later and couldn't wait for the answer. Wife was a teacher and really needed to have a job lined up for September or miss out. And we would have had to move to DC area hoping the job would come thru. The other problem was if I wanted to change jobs, I really couldn't say a lot about what I'd done there
