One of my favorite "Trade Schools" in our nation is the "North Bennet Street School". Not only are they a first class hands on school for artisans and tradespeople, they also have a wonderful "Veterans Grant" that encourages our military veterans to enroll and learn a skill, or to tune up the skills they already have.

If we have any Bostonian's here on The Patriot Woodworker, you probably already know about this great school.

Here is a video I like, and I hope you find interesting as well, it's woodworking all the way, and demonstrates some skills that may go out of our wheelhouse. Also, this video is produced by one of my all time favorite PBS programs, "Craft in America".

"North Bennet Street School president Miguel Gómez-Ibáñez shows us the Violin Making and Repair program at the North Bennet Street School. Meet instructor Roman Barnas and students. The North Bennet Street School is featured in the Process episode of Craft in America, which premiered in October 2009 on PBS." Source: Craft in America YouTube channel.

Thanks so much for that North Bennett school video. A fine cabinet, chair or table is not an easy accomplishment but, making a great sounding and, beautiful stringed instrument has to be the epitome of fine woodworking. I'm in awe. So much so that I'm inspired to complete my far less intricate and, much more mundane task of shop organization. Today, we tackle the router and bit cabinet. And, later this week, the reassembly of the Jointech Shopsmith, AKA, the Frankensmith. That's the final big job to have, at least a semblance, of a working shop. The light's getting brighter!

Had my son here last week. Rather busy so not much time online.  Spent couple days at my Mother's getting a wall put up so I can organize tools that she wants there.

One of those items is a hedge trimmer.  This mount will hold that.  Color coded to match the Stihl colors.

I was able to get most of the mowing done over the weekend; still need to finish up the roadsides and ditches. Sunday school & worship services yesterday.

Saturday I was able to watch livestream of youngest granddaughters swim meet (NCAA-D3) in Lexington, KY. The team lost but she had a pretty good day. 3rd in the 1000 freestyle and 1st in 500 freestyle. Both season best times. She was outta gas for 200 IM and 400 Free Relay:P.

A couple meetings at church this week. Change to plans to accomplish outside work next couple of days with rain now in forecast and snow by the weekend. Nowhere near ready for that.

Personally, I found @KevTNthread absolutely shocking;)

Datacenter software upgrades are winding down.  One site left over in Saudi.  VXRails are up and running.  Disk encryption routines are still running after 50 hours and may take a couple more days.  Good thing we only have to do the encryption once.  Next up permissioning and a week of training for me.

Well, I got the first part of my mail box snow shield put up this morning, 2 fence posts. Go ahead, laugh.....but the county had about 1' of #2 rocks at the surface that had to be removed before I could hammer them in. I bought 2-7' chain link terminal posts (2 3/8" OD, 17 gauge) and drove them down until I had about 4' or so above the ground. To this I will fasten a piece of MDO plywood that's larger than the mailbox/newpaper box to deflect the snow. I tried this last year and it didn't work out to well. The problem was the fence posts I had used (I think), they weren't rigid enough to withstand the blast of the 10" heavy wet snow we had. So I beefed up the posts with absolutely no idea whether this will work. Plan C is to enlarge the mailbox turnout and move the box back  from the road quite a bit more.

Get a local fab shop to weld you up a heavy duty mailbox and mount it on a good sizes pole.  I did one for a friend of mine our of .25 plate when he had a problem with not only the snow but kids with baseball bats.  Cured both problems.  May not be as much as you think.  Etsy has some to choose from.

Like Dan said, just to nice out to be inside. Put some gas in the mower can because I ran it dry thinking I was done for the season:BangingHead:. Pruned back 2 rhododendrons & cut the grass. May go out tomorrow and do the edging that I neglected this summer.

Backyard not completely mowed but almost.  I got started on the roserary box.  I have no idea about one, but she has 4 and so this box will be able to separate them and keep them untangled.

Doctor week this week.  3 appointments for her and we will see our primary care next Tuesday.  I think he may prescribe Hospice.  It will be part of the discussion.

Oh, John, where do we go to donate to the charity this year?

Continued prayers out for you Steve.  Whatever problems I may have today pale in comparison.
