Hello from West Virginia

Hello from West Virginia.  I'm a veteran, a woodworker, a Grandpa, and retired.

I recognize some names here from the old Wood Working Friends site that is now history.

My current interest is segmented vessels which I look at as a step up from RingMaster bowls which

I've done many of.  I make cutting boards, S & P shakers, bowls, and a few other odds and ends

for craft shows, and when successful make enough to buy more wood, sandpaper, and glue.

My screen name is adot45 and my name is David.  Here is a couple of Purpleheart Bowls, one Ringmaster

and a segmented bowl made from the design by Packard.  So...HELLO!

Welcome! That sure is a purdy bowl.....I think I saw a few of yours in the turning forum (old, can't keep up with the screen name thing) and they are spectacular.

Hello @adot45.  I was on the WoodWorking Friends site also.  I don't recognize the name but glad you are here.  I do miss the old site but we have great group of guys here too.

A formal and hearty welcome @adot45. Great to have you on board. Thank-you for your service to our great Nation.

Your work is awesome and certainly demonstrates your passion for turning.

@lewoffers up great weekly tips, ideas, and resources as Woodturners forum host coupled with the great forum members participation.. Jump in, share, exchange and learn.

BTW, don't forget the donuts.:P

Hello

Welcome to The Patriot Woodworker @zayanak. Glad you found us. Create a thread letting us know a little more about your interests and passions. No egos here; just great people looking to share, help and learn from each other. Looking forward to your participation.

BTW, bringing donuts to share is always a good icebreaker. Chocolate covered glazed earns you a spot by me.

Welcome from another WWF fugitive. Love your work. I have dropped away from doing Ringmaster and have now sold the lathe it was setup on . Plan to adapt it to PM just have not gotten there.

Hi Gerald, yes, I remember you from the WWF site.  I still use my RM quite a bit but I have a stand alone.  Thank you for your comment.

Bout time you got here, Dave! :D  Pretty soon they'll have to set up a Ringmaster forum for all the old WWF folks.

You'll find the same kind of guys/gals here as back there. Lots of knowledge and always willing to share it.

Haven't seen many RM bowls recently. Show some of your recent stuff so I can see how far behind the power curve I am.

Hello Headhunter, a place for RM bowls sounds good to me.  I’d be glad to share some of my pics if I knew where Rm bowl pics should go.  Nice to hear from you.

I'm not a wood spinner Dave but a couple options. (1) create a Gallery thread for your previously created projects or just start a thread in Woodturning. @lewmay offer some other ideas or maybe we need a stand alone RM sub forum?? I believe there are a few others here with Ringmasters?

I nearly bought a stand alone model one once at a garage sale. Very fairly priced but I have too many other tools gathering rust & dust to add to space I don't have.

Welcome, adot45.  From one veteran to another, welcome aboard.  Pull up a chair and sit a spell.

I tried to get the data from WW Friends when it shut down but the owner was a little paranoid about sharing knowledge and he dumped all the files. But if @John Morris cannot start a new page we could use the Woodturning forum to go there too.

There should be a sub forum, in the Woodturner’s gallery, for Ring Master bowls within the next 24 hours. I’ll get the link when it’s ready

Awesome Lew. Another niche to display talents and learning options for our community.

Thanks!

Wow lew, that will really be great!  I’m sure this will be a good draw and I also think people will be interested in seeing what is possible using a RM lathe.  Great job!

Welcome aboard David, glad to have you here.  We have another turner up there in West Va, @RustyFN ought to be along before too long.
