Popular Post FrederickH Posted December 29, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 29, 2021 Some cleaning up of the carving to do, but almost done. I'm not that pleased with the feathers but it was the best thing that I could come up with. It was challenging to get in between the feathers to clean them out. Plaque is done and ready for the finishing! Artie, FlGatorwood, DuckSoup and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted December 30, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted December 30, 2021 That is amazing Frederick. It surely has to be rewarding to see the transformation thus far? Popular Post FrederickH Posted December 31, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 31, 2021 As I was cleaning up the shop, I thought that I would show how much wood was removed from the carving/plaque. The first photo shows the carving chips that were removed, during the process of carving the eagle, and the second photo shows the wood removed by two molding planes.... one a reverse ogee/fillet and the other a 1/4" beading plane. I made 4 feet of molding for my plaque. DuckSoup, Grandpadave52, FlGatorwood and 3 others 6 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted December 31, 2021 Report Posted December 31, 2021 Amazing...those resemble most of my finished projects prior to finish (finish putting them in the burn pile) Love all the stained glass work too. Is that in your talent quiver too? Cal and FlGatorwood 2 Quote

The Blue-jay really caught my attention. Not overstated in design (hope that makes sense?) but a real attention grabber. The colors are perfect IMHO. Beautiful work!
