Popular Post FrederickH Posted November 4, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted November 4, 2021 I just found this photo that I taken in Stockholm, and I'm thinking about carving /gilding this as my next project. There is a lot of undercutting, which will be interesting. Now, to scale this to a reasonable size! Al B, p_toad, Gunny and 6 others 9 Quote

Popular Post FrederickH Posted November 8, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted November 8, 2021 The basswood blank is now cut out(thanks again Lew!) and the decision of how to cut the back remains....... what to remove or leave! Carving should start tomorrow. John Morris, Grandpadave52, Gene Howe and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post FrederickH Posted November 19, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted November 19, 2021 Not much happening right now. Some of the in-letting/carving is taking place and I've started to under-carve for the wings. We're headed for Long Island for Thanksgiving with our daughter and then we're heading up to Cape Cod for several days.On one of those days we should be on Martha's Vineyard for the day. Hoping that the weather cooperates with the driving portions of the trip. Gunny, Grandpadave52, p_toad and 6 others 9 Quote

Popular Post Gene Howe Posted November 20, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted November 20, 2021 Doggonnit, Fredrick. Taking time away from this carving is totally unforgivable! You know that your fans here on TPWW are salivating in anticipation to see another of your fantastic creations. But, we'll forgive you, this time. But seriously, enjoy your time with the family and have a great Thanksgiving! DuckSoup, FrederickH, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 6 Quote

Popular Post FrederickH Posted December 6, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 6, 2021 (edited) Haven't had much shop time since coming back from a brief vacation. Yard work, Christmas yard decorating, house time, etc. Wife and I are scheduled for a Seasonal Beer Dinner tonight(5-course, 6-beer parings). I did manage to do some detailing to the wing area and some light sanding in that area. This week should be more conductive to carving. I thought that I would include a photograph taken on Marconi Beach, at the Cape Cod National Seashore. Edited December 6, 2021 by FrederickH Grandpadave52, Woodman, Gene Howe and 4 others 6 1 Quote
Popular Post FrederickH Posted December 15, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 15, 2021 Some carving has occurred inn the past week. I find that a raking light really shows where some carving touchups need to occur. Ill finish the flames and wings before starting on the body of the eagle. I did make another wood block to "practice" the carving of the eagle. Done by the New Year???? Gene Howe, Gunny, Grandpadave52 and 5 others 8 Quote

Popular Post FrederickH Posted December 16, 2021 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2021 Carving of the wings almost complete. I'm unsure about what to do with the upper, inner, portions of the wings. A decision can be made at anytime. I've started the "practice" carving for the eagle on a separate piece of basswood.
