Friday October 29th 2021-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

 Spooky Halloween Everyone. :BitingNails:

Been raining most of the week here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" so not a lot of outside time to get those outside things done.

:ChinScratch: Kind of hard to believe we're still 9.53" below average for rainfall, but that's what the weather people are telling us.

So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda? :WonderScratch:

Anything Scary?

Anything Scary?

Headed up to Macon this AM to check out an estate auction.  There are a few pieces of rattan furniture that I would like to "repurpose" if they stay within my budget.  Inspection is today, on-line auction ends tonight, and pickup over the weekend.  That would be possibly two trips to the big city.  Scary in my book!

Also today I want to drop off a few pics of proposed etchings I've been requested to do.  Yeti style mugs for Christmas gifts.  And do a couple box glue ups that I played around with using my new panel sleds.

Saturday, pick up or not, the annual GA-FLA rivalry game plays.  Neutral ground in Jacksonville, FLA.  1/2 the crowd is FLA, 1/2 UGA fans.  It used to be billed as "The world's largest outdoor cocktail party", but they have been trying (unsuccessfully) to change that...  For both teams it is the game of the year.  If you only win one this whole year, make it be this one...  FLA would love to upset UGA's streak, can't let that happen!

In amoungst all the other stuff, need to start cutting out panels for an entertainment center. :)

Time to get the snowblower serviced and fired up.  Final mowing for the season yesterday (probably) and put the clippings on the garden beds.  Be putting the old MG into hibernation and the winter cover on the garden beds.  I feel like a chipmunk.  It's been a pretty nice October though.

We mowed for the last time 3 weeks ago. Funny thing about grass, without moisture, it don't grow.

Sunday, I have to deliver a DC to a vet who lives about 500 mi. into Mexico. He's driving up for appointments at the VA hospital in Tucson. We'll meet somewhere close to there. I've been there a few times and I get lost each time. Getting lost in that area can be scary. But, I'm a big boy. I've learned to conquer my fears. Just pull over and wait till the trembling stops.

Still trying to get mailbox set up for winter. Different approach. I'll still have the snow blast shield, but during the snowy period (mid Dec. to mid Feb. or so, I'mm changing it out to a smaller solid steel box. This is a 10 minute job, so no big deal. The downside is that we won't have the jumbo box out there for the package deliveries....but we should (maybe) still have a box in place for the regular mail. But it's raining the next day or so, so this is one of those work-it-in-when you-can things.

Hopefully, by Monday I can finally start on reassembly of the Frankensmith. Gene using mechanic's tools. Now that's scary! I do have enough sense to leave the auto mechanic work to someone with ASE certification.

Don't I wish.

Sitting around by the mail box.   Rain all the live long day.....knee is still sore from yesterday's work-outs....

Kitchen sink drain sprung a leak, had to replace the pipes under it.  Bucket Brigade is still at work....steady drips, from the rain.

No sign of a roofing crew.....must be Ghosts?

stucco repair.

got lucky, the stucco supply place just got a truck load of STO in, including Fine (which is what i need), ran over there, bought and paid for one 5 gallon bucket, they tinted it (Desert Lace, color code 01009).  have to remove damaged stucco area tomorrow, assess if i need to patch with concrete based patch material, if so, let that cure, then top with color another day.  has to be over 50F.

Move from the shop to the theater.  Two rental trucks get loaded Saturday in the first of probably 3 trips.   Tomorrow some last minute construction, disassembly of big pieces to fit in the truck.  Then move to the theater on Sunday.   Start reassembly, hanging things from wires (aka Flying pieces), connecting electrical, and working around rehearsals.  Tech time 5:00 to 6:30 every day.  Show starts on Friday evening.

Been a week of 12 hour days.  I'm worn out.

I've got some pecan bowl blanks in the lumber cart that need to find their way to the lathe at some point.  MonkeyPod bowl blank for commissioned bowl arrived in the mail so that will take priority.

Need to sharpen up my gouges.

Headed home from a week at the lake . Rainy and colder the Last two days there but no big deal as we only wander long enough to eat and shop a few short hours. So headed home we stop in West Plains. There is a antique store in the square with two stories of lots of stuff. This store started as Hardware store in 1886. Still owned by the founding family. Look at my posts in the hand tool what is it for some I hope head scratchers. There was one booth with extremely over priced planes. Such as a Stanley #2 for $899. Here are some mouth watering pics. 1DEDBD60-A505-4F49-B7A0-2DD08EDC709B.jpeg.d71d1255084a90dd26a4a526a18981ab.jpeg

Southern Mississippi and parts of Louisiana have wonderful antique stores.  I could spend days in them.

Gerald, there seems to be a bit and brace that appears to have a hand crank on the side.  Is that 2 separate tools or it is a combination?  If it is a combination, I cannot figure out how it works.  I see a couple of old glass cutters in the bottom picture.

That is just a normal brace hanging in front of a Breast Drill...one of 2 in the picture.

Top picture:   Saw on the left...deep cut?    Yep, was used to cut rails on a Rail Road crew.

2 of these Craftsman/Sargent planes arrived here, today...
