I'm such a doofus. I forgot my password. I need to change my password to one I can remember but I need my current one to do that.

Help please.

@John Morris can reset it and maybe @Ron Dudelston . I use something called Last Pass password manager. It saved me more than once.

Gene, PM sent.

@Gene Howe, has this been fixed yet, if not I'll assign you a temp password and you can change it to your liking when you log in.

Thanks, John. Not fixed. I'll take the temp. PW and see if that way works.

Gene, did John get you fixed?  I haven’t heard from you.

I did fix him Ron, I PMd him but he may not see it if he can't get on.

Ron, bless his soul, called me after Gunny and, bless his soul too, contacted him at my request. I was able to pm Gunny on the Lumberjocks site and give him my phone# which he gave to Ron. Ron set me up with a new PW.

Hey Gene, and anyone else, been a long time since this topic, but all you have to do is click on Forgot Password, and it prompts you for your email address only, an email will be sent to you with directions on how to reset your password, you don't need to know your current password.

Gene I use my birth date as does wife uses hers. For some sites I use a different birth date. That aught to comfuze em. I also have an index with all the passwords.
Actually best thing to do.

John I would argue that's not good. If someone can't remember their password which generally is something a person is comfortable with to start then when they give you a new pass word I guarantee the one issued will be impossible to remember. And yes a person can forget their password every time he needs it so there  makes more confusion... And if he didn't write the first one down somewhere, chances are he will forget to do the same with the new one...

exactly why I use LastPass password manager

I use a company out of Nigeria to manage mine. I give them all my passwords then they just do automatic withdrawals from my bank accounts. IIRC, the managers first name is Prince.
