Based at Logie Steading near Forres in the highlands. Come and spend a relaxing time in the woods learning new skills and meeting new folk the green wood way. Green woodworking is a traditional practice using fresh wood still full of sap allowing the tools to split, slice, shave and cleave through the wood with ease. We will use techniques that have been developed over hundreds of years, that are in harmony with the nature and qualities of the wood itself. No prior wood working experience is necessary, these courses are for all abilities.
October 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Taking Marie to the Dr. today (podiatrist, this time) and otherwise rained in. I do need to build a new mailbox post...may get started on that. Snow plows damaged mine pretty badly last year.....despite my snow shield I put up. Good news, the mailbox was OK; just laying about 15' from where it was.
October 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Boxing up a few planes to ship to Bandit. He doesn't have enough! Then, it's back to organizing. About done with that chore. well, grossly organized, that is. At least, to the point tools can be located. I need to finish up the DC system for the SCMS. And, start the Jointech Frankensmith reassembly. There's still the router bit cabinet to organize and, we're not yet thinking about tackling the sorting of screws, nuts and bolts. UGH!

October 25, 20214 yr Popular Post @Gunny are those all different kinds of tape or just multiples of the same tape? I may have six different types myself if you count the different widths.
October 25, 20214 yr Popular Post This week is going to be brutal on the work side so I am limited on the shop hours I am going to be able to put in. The shop side of the list keeps growing. In addition to everything from last week I have a couple more shop projects... I finished up my modified Paulk style torsion box assembly table but failed to take into account the fulcrum effect that the slightly sloping floor would have on the finished height. The table saw is adjusted to account for this but I am going to have to do some calculations and build another locking spreader bar for the high side to lower the high end of the assembly table to level. I still need to drill a LOT of 3/4" holes in it as well. In addition to that, I managed to score an old Rockwell Delta joiner over the weekend. It needs to be cleaned up but it is in good condition overall, no rust or pitting on the cast iron. Motor, belts, electrical, and blades are new. The refurbishment will need to be finished and that will take a bit of time to clean everything up tune it up and get it running 100% but this should be a nice addition to the shop.

Rare I actually have to buy tape.
