Somebody (ies) forgot Monday

My part of this is to wish everyone a happy Indigenous People Day. Maybe a happy Columbus Day as well, though I'm wondering about whether the Columbus day part will be repealed, seems like I read his statue is also being removed by some politicos in the country. In any case, I was planning on mowing today, but that has to wait. Marie had a DR. appointment in Cinci this morning, and when we got home she decided this is a good day to take her dog to the vet, so my day is mostly otherwise occupied. So how's things going for everyone else??????

PS, picked this up on a news  site.....kinda makes me wonder why the "Indigenous People day" is piggybacks with Columbus day.

"Protests have targeted Columbus because he is accused of the genocide of indigenous people. A 2019 study published in the journal Quaternary Science Review estimated that between 1492 and 1600, about 55 million people in the Americas died. The Taíno people were virtually wiped out in the decades after Columbus first arrived on the island of Hispaniola, where Haiti and the Dominican Republic sit today."

@Fred W. Hargis JrThanks for getting this started!

New space for reloading is all set up and ready to go.  It's smaller...no streamlined.  Now I just need to go make some empty cases.

Finished up my lathe dust collector for sanding rolling pins. Surprised that it works as well as it does for something cobbled together from mostly scraps.

Doing all the necessary Fall duties while the weather is so nice.  Truth is I just want to be outside while the weather is so nice.  Finished up a couple more awls using the new shaft idea.  Need to sit down and get it posted here.

Must have missed you.  I was there this morning for some lab work.  But it's right inside the door (literally) and I was only there about 5 minutes.

Worked at the furniture bank this morning.  While plugging in the cyclone dust collector, I noted the collector bag below the pleated filter was full.  Boy was it ever, the dust was packed up for about the next two feet inside the filter.  The lever to clean it off would not even turn.  Then looking at the 55 gal drum, it was full to the rim.   After filling up a rolling trash can with dust spilled on the floor, I got out one of the shop vacs.  It did not seem to have much suction, so I opened it up.  The bin was not completely full, but the filter had about 1" of fine dust caked all over it.  Took it off and cleaned it out with impact, brushing, then a compressed air nozzle.  Same situation on the other shop vac in the shop.   All in all, it took 3 of us about an hour to clean up the collectors and empty out all the dust.

New rule : Check the dust collection at the end of any time you use it.

One of our sons and family came over to help us celebrate Chris's day. Was hoping for Lasagna or, Pizza for lunch. Instead we had grilled Shish Kabobs. Yeah, I know. That's middle eastern cuisine but, the salad did have Italian dressing.:D

With it being a Federal holiday, I'm guessing the indigenous casinos did a whooping good business. ;)

I was up and out early yesterday.  Ticker checkup at 7:30, good report - keep doing what you are doing.  Then to the building supply for a new door sweep.  Then to a dental appt. for a check up and cleaning.  Good report there, too :)  Back home I put a coat of paint on my third, and final, door.  Since my day was otherwise shot, I ran up to Macon for a haircut after lunch and then when I got home put a coat of paint on the window grids of aforementioned door.

You didn't ask, but had a great Saturday... Dawgs won :TwoThumbsUp:Up next - an unbeaten KY team is in Athens this week...

Headed north to Concord, GA this morning to pick up some BB plywood for a couple three projects to do in between all the other normal stuff that usually packs my day.

@Cal, great news on the medical front. And the Saturday report ain't too shabby, neither! Looking ahead, it appears they're headed for an unbeaten season, They absolutely deserve their #1 ranking.

made a few little cuts (dados) yesterday, hmmm....lots of dust not being sucked up by the vacuum.  fine, let's check it.  oh my.....it was FULL!!.  time to empty it and clear the filter (take it outside the bang it against some saw horses, 15 acres, the dust will settle somewhere).  put it back together....that's BETTER!

i try to clean out the vacuums after i finish a project....but sometimes that doesn't always happen.

My wife has one of those. Not sure how they are going to take care of it. She has a knee replacement in a couple of weeks.

Got hit by one of those about 20 years back. Spent some time in a wheelchair, but it went away on its own. Not much fun, overall! :(
