My Sister's Bowl.

My sister has been wanting a large bowl to make salad in.  Came across a piece of what I believe is Cherry.  23 inches of 9.75" by 3" thick.  Yielded this bowl 9.50" and I got it 5.5" deep.  I finished it using mineral spirits with paraffin wax melted in it.  Rubbed it in while it was still hot and when it gelled up I got out the heat gun and kept melting it in to the wood.  Gave it to her today with upkeep instructions.  She loved it.

Gorgeous! I like the way you did the rim. Love the color, too.

Color is natural, didn't add anything to the finish.

Nice work Dan! I think that rim will help gripping the bowl when passing the salad around the table.

Very nice Dan !

Nice job and I like that rim. I have done a few like it because it reminds me of a bowl my grandmother used to hone her kitchen knives on. It was a pottery bowl with a glaze but she had worn the glaze off the rim where she sharpened.

Agree with all the others.  Fantastic bowl and work.
