June 23, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Ok, get this caught up....finish is done.. Latch has been installed....decided this will be a Key Safe, and hang on the wall....made a tray/box for down at the "bottom" and made a cross bar to hold a few cup hooks... The box is for any "stray" keys, that nobody remembers what they are for. Those 4 hooks? Well, I did drill pilot holes.. Waxed the threads...and still snapped 4 hooks off...good thing I bought an 8-pack...finally got the hang of it...last 2 went in, no problems.... Decided the "door" needed something, since it won't have a handle.. As this was vetoed...using the finger lift. So, drag out a machine ( hide yer eyes, Gunny!) And a piece of 1/4" thick Ash scrap.....not the best at drawing something like this, but... A couple coats of "chrome" paint...then drill 3 holes...once the paint was dry... Time to do an install...2 screws, with a washer each.... That basket thing USED to be the key ring holder....key safe is in the spot where the basket used to hang... Side view, when you walk by... Open for business. The way it seems to hang on this wall, door actually tries to shut itself. Bit of tape, to hold it open, just long enough for a photo.. Not too bad, for a pile of leftovers?
