March 4, 20215 yr Nice lathe Rusty ! Definitely beefy. That swivel feature on the headstock is very cool. Paul
March 4, 20215 yr Holy cow that's a lathe! I am not familiar with the brand, but it sure looks like a heavy and well put together machine!
March 4, 20215 yr Its a brand that's quite commonly sold in the UK @John Morris I had to look it up myself. The company I do believe is based out of England.

I was a little worried at first but this had all of the features I was looking for. Everybody on YouTube seemed to like them so I went for it. I am very happy so far. Fit and finish is very nice. The headstock, banjo and tail stock all lock up very tight with little effort. Plenty of power with the 2 HP motor and it is very quiet. The rotating headstock can be locked in any position. That makes turning the inside of bowls a lot easier for me. I made this bowl today.

The further over the tool rest the tool is the more likely a catch. Starting at 5:10 Sam shows proper presentation of the tool for bowl turning. Thanks Dan. That video helped a lot. I made a bowl today and used the round carbide on the inside to smooth it out. I raised the rest above center and angled the tool more and everything went smooth. Never came close to a catch.
March 6, 20215 yr Beautiful bowl and a bitchin lathe Rusty. I don’t know how long Record Power has been around but it has been a long time. I have a scraper stamped with their name on it that was handed down from my father and I’m not sure he was the original owner. Paul
