January 1, 20215 yr @Masonsailor, are you using an Origin shaper to make those mortises? The tape in the pictures look like what I saw on a video of the Origin. If that's what you are using, how do you like it? If I ever get one of those, it will be years in the future, after the price comes down. A lot.
January 1, 20215 yr As far as the mortise yes I did use the Shaper Origin but I think I will use a different method in the future. A simpler method will be to order a Forstner bit that matches the diameter of the faceplate and chuck it up in the tailstock and drill out the mortise. That will be a lot quicker. I will continue to make the discs using the SO but there is probably a much simpler way for that also. You could easily turn a cylinder of wood say 12” long that is the diameter of the mortise and then just slice off wafers on the band saw. Paul
