Gunny, you had a neighbor's young man to spend some time with you last spring I think before he joined the military.  Have you heard from him?  And, if you have, how is he?

Doing well, home for the holidays.  Got a text from him yesterday.

Receiving gifts from Amazon and I hope a couple from Brussels.  The Legos in Brussels has been in the U. S. Post Office in the Netherlands since Dec. 10.  No updates as of yet.

Just a caution, it took the USPS 12 days to bring me a package from a place 70 miles away (priority). Another I sent to a place 170 miles away took 14 days. I suspect there's a chance you may get the Legos by next Christmas. All the package shipping services seem to be severely constipated with the Covid stuff as well as the holidays.

Trick is to use economy shipping, don't know why but if you use Express, or Priority it will take longer.

My lathe chuck, and live center took 3 days to come from the S.C. area shipped economy.

I rarely have any trouble with USPS.  But, in the Netherlands, they are not as prompt as here.  The only time I have problems with USPS is Louisiana and Texas.  I can send something either priority or ground from here to Melbourne or anywhere in Florida and it will be there undamaged in 3 days.  Most other places are also the same way.

I had ordered a set of Legos of a Porsche 911 from Amazon about 2 weeks ago.  Well, it was shipped FedEx vice USPS.  Good old FedEx shipped the kit and delivered it to a place in Missouri.  The address is nothing alike.  The only time FedEx ever served me well was when I shipped my SS headstock to Bill Mayo to Tampa FL.  It actually went straight there and back.  All other times, just like the legos package, they ship and deliver it somewhere else, then I have to put out tracers, look everywhere for my package.  I absolutely hate the company.  No wonder Amazon dropped them.  USP is not much better.  When I order, I always try to use the USPS if the option is available.  If not, I will look for a local vendor.  This one, I didn't see.  Received a note from the vendor this morning and they are investigating.  It won't be here in time for Christmas, so the grandson will have to get something other than what he wished for.  Just another life lesson.

That sounds about right.   Last week FedEx dropped off a box from Jenny Craig that neither of us had ordered and in fact it should have gone to someone in the same general area - the only thing we have in common is the digits of our addresses.   I called the Jenny Craig people and they said they would ship a new box to the customer; meanwhile, i called the folks at the other address and told them i had the box...basically untouched...they picked it up that evening and i'm guessing got another box some time later.  They didn't need to, but they dropped off a thank you and a gift card.

Finished up the electric keyboard desk for grand-daughter.   I think she may also be able to use it in the future for a laptop or desktop computer.  "Bin" on right side is to hold sheet music.  Quarter- and rift-sawn red oak. mortise and tenon joints, golden oak stain, wiping varnish, "Warm Brown" glaze.

Looks great Keith!  But, is there a reason you took the pic from 30' away? :P

No, I didn't realize how far away the photo was until I got it online.

Better?  I was really only about six feet away originally.  The light spots in the top are just sunlight coming in the window.

Wow!  USPS delivered one package of Legos today from the Netherlands. They were shipped on December 10, so 11 days is not bad by boat to New York, then down the coast to Florida.  LOL  The company who shipped my Porsche legos to Missouri asked if I wanted a refund.  Sure, I really feel so happy this time of year to just give money to a struggling company!  I don't think so.  LOL  Waiting on only two more.  Another Lego from Germany and that Porsche.  Will be all done.  Yeah!

I have three USPS packages "in transit"

- one mailed Nov 25 from Cincinnati, been in Cincinnati (30 miles away) since Dec 12

- one mailed priority mail 12/17 from SC place and only status is "In Transit, Arriving Late"

- one mailed parcel select (whatever that is), Rx, mailed 12/11, in Cincinnati distribution center 12/21, initially scheduled to arrive 12/21 "arriving late" will arrive "by 8pm"  12/26

Those mail carriers and sorters must be swamped.  We had a package delivered last week between 10 and 11 pm.  Left the lights on for them.

I think all the delivery services are swamped with all the online shopping, dealing with employee sickness and sometimes just putting a package down and not seeing it in time to get it to the next station.  When I send stuff to Texas or Louisiana, I wait a week and then go to the PO to put a tracer on it.  It usually moves in 1 or 2 days.  Be sure to keep your PO receipt until the package is delivered.  Just in case you need to follow up with a tracer.

We have a 4 digit address. Somehow an E Bay order of a Cell Phone had the middle two numbers transposed. It was delivered...on time... to our address by FEDEX. Under normal circumstances, I'd call that amazing. At this time of the year...in THIS year, it's nothing short of miraculous.

I must say we have a rather good mail carrier.

Social Security had our address wrong on my wife's paperwork and it got delivered correctly.

When the wife asked me where the wrong address would be located she didn't think it was very funny.

The address would be the cemetery about 1/4 mile east of us.
