September 26, 20205 yr Great projects all around fellas. My agenda this weekend... paint, paint, paint. I finished up painting some trim I made for a wainscot in the dining area yesterday and went ahead and put the paint supplies up to get them out of my way. Then thought, hmm, I don't think I calculated enough shoe moulding to do the kitchen island. I may have to buy another stick of shoe - and paint it. Moving onto the next step of this project which is laying the laminate in the living room, I got out the end cap trim to edge the fireplace hearth to lay out the cut line; doggone it, the brick hearth is - of course - not too straight and the nice straight end cap would leave a couple very noticeable gaps. At least to me. So, I have traced the edge to a piece of scrap plywood and will cut and fit the pattern to a good piece of either pine to paint or oak to stain. Either way, I have more finishing to do this weekend. If it fairs off today I need to get the lawnmower out (and use it). And UGA has a ball game this evening. UGA vs. Arkansas. If I get the moulding made up today I can paint/stain it while watching the game and having a cold one
September 26, 20205 yr Author Got quite a bit of mowing done. So today ....recovering from whatever I stirred up, that stirred up my allergies.
September 27, 20205 yr Last month a customer came in with a noise when driving and insisted on driving the car while I rode in passenger seat. No problem. UNTIL, she blows through two red lights and a stop sign. The stop sign got me upset as I was looking at the hood emblem of a F150m we barely missed. I was about to say something (held my tongue long enough) when the blue lights came on behind us. The police Officer was not a happy camper having witnessed the one blown light and then the stop sign. Customer was a royal pain to the guy the entire time. Finally he had enough and told her get out, put her in cuffs and stuffed her in back of police car to cool off. Meanwhile he finds out she has a suspended license. SO that brings him back to me to ask how I plan to get back to shop. Laughed and said well I can drive the car, or I can walk if you are impounding it, I get paid hourly so no skin off my back. No problem he tells me, as long as I have a license, and no warrants. Okay not a problem and he checks my license and all is good. She tells him hell no, he can walk. So I called back to shop and got a ride back with a funny story. Fast forward to this evening as I am driving home. Car comes flying past me like a demon and tries to run the light. Didn't make it, saw the whole thing as it happened and cringed. I parked and went to the truck, guy is shook up but okay. Then went to the car to check on driver. Not a chance, blood everywhere and it appears her head and the steering wheel became one. As I walked away I realized this is that same lady's car. I am shaking my head the whole time. Driving on a suspended license means she had issues long before the day I met with her. Police Officer said she was 22 years old and he sees this everyday.

September 27, 20205 yr Just picked up about 4 and a half feet of poplar board 4 1/2x8x 3/4 so I should get at least two bowl blanks out of that and maybe a small platter.

I've even turned small bowls with the easy start set as well. Either way the mid sized hollower will work good. Edited September 27, 20205 yr by AndrewB
September 27, 20205 yr Yesterday I thought I was going to complete the TV wall in the family room but complications arose so today will be spent trouble shooting. The led’s on one side are flickering, hopefully just a poor connection. The other issue is the wire chase I built on the left side creates a shadow on the wall and reduces the amount of light so the lighting appears very unbalanced. Not sure on that one. I’m going to move the light panel on that side from the top to the inside of the front of the valence and see if that helps. Oh well. Nothing comes easy. Paul
September 28, 20205 yr Thank you, Lew and Andrew. I looked up the #1 hollower. Now I know what to look for. By the time this wood is ready, I may have one.
